I am a clinical psychologist specialising in clinically-proven effective and affordable therapy for people who want help to end psychological problems or get more out of life. Creating a warm and accepting space, I provide both face-to-face and/or telephone and Skype counselling. Whether you are depressed, anxious, having trouble with relationships, have experienced trauma or just feel you are not getting the most out of life, I aim to help you get immediate symptom relief from day one . I work collaboratively to help men and women break self-defeating patterns and develop renewed self-belief, which they can apply for themselves after therapy finishes. I go out of my way to fully understand how you see yourself and the world and to help you move forward to reach your goals at a pace that suits you.

What do you love most about your job?

I feel privileged to share the courage that people of all ages and backgrounds display when they come to therapy. Therapy for me is a very honest space where two people dare to work out what it is to be human. That is a rich and humbling experience. We can touch painful depths at times, but when therapy goes well, I get a real sense of satisfaction in having the chance to acknowledge another person in all their wounding and their strength. It is deeply satisfying to see someone I have supported in re-finding him/herself go forward into life with renewed hope and confidence.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After working in the NHS for almost 20 years, I was ready for a new challenge. The NHS is a magnificent institution but pressure on services mean clinicians have to compromise on how they provide care. There are long waits and time to help people is strictly limited. I wanted the chance to practice in a way that ensures I am providing exactly what the client needs for as long as s/he needs it. I also wanted the chance to help a wider group of people and share my long experience of working with clients. Private practice also gives me a better work-life balance, which is essential for my well-being.

Why should our clients choose you?

As a clinical psychologist I have a longer and more thorough training than those trained as counsellors or most other therapists. I am knowledgeable in a wide range of approaches from CBT and Mindfulness to trauma and solution-focused therapy. Because of this wide range of skills I can tailor the work so that it is most effective for the problem you bring. I have worked with everyone from young people to older adults over many years so have a depth of experience that is invaluable to help people in distress. I have also been in the client's chair myself so know the value of a therapist being fully accepting of all anyone brings. I will welcome you for who you are, work hard to understand how you experience the world and, from there, we will work together to find a way forward.
