I feel like I am a different person after seeing Phil once a week for circa three months. He really helped me overcome objectives I went into therapy to address. Phil made me feel really at ease and was everything I could of hoped for in a therapist. Will be continuing self development with Phil but no longer need to see him on a weekly basis.

PLEASE READ FIRST... Offering a warm welcome and somewhere calm and confidential to talk and be heard. I invite you to speak openly and freely without fear of feeling judged or interrogated in a safe space that is just for you. (see me at www. Amanda Ridyard Counselling .com). As I work in central Bolton - consider the practicality of travel prior to requesting quotes as we are charged to respond.
I offer face to face and telephone therapy. Quite often we are our own worse critic. Do you take better care of others than you do yourself? Do you feel that people don't really know the "real" you? And if they did see the real you, they wouldn't like you? Do you keep finding yourself in relationships that feel toxic? Do you feel deep down that there is something not quite right?

The counselling I’ve received from Julie has, over a couple of years, been transformative, helping me find contentment and optimism when I couldn’t before. The therapy is in-depth and empathetic - Julie listens, notices and remembers what you’ve said, making it easy to trust her with difficult things. She’s a laugh too. I’ve incrementally found things easier to deal with, and continue to, as a result of her thoughtful counselling.

Our ethos is to offer an inclusive quality service that is accessible to all. Thereafter, any following sessions will be charged at the price agreed.
What I love most about my job is watching people flourish into the confident, productive person they aspire to become.
In my experience, the therapeutic alliance is most effective in helping individuals deal with their fear, anxiety or other issues. Having the opportunity to explore these issues in a non-judgmental environment empowers them to overcome the difficulties they have experienced, moving on to embark on a new journey - it is this I love about my job.
I decided to open my private practice to open up counselling to all. This came from personal experience when I was a client. I was unable to attend the sessions due to changes in my circumstances my therapist offered to continue for a minimal fee; this gave me insight into how important it is to ensure therapy is accessible to all, so I opened a private practice.
My clients tell they feel very comfortable with me, and I have a gentle approach which helped them feel at ease. I offer a quality service to all of my clients. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist and have worked with many different issues including; depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, survivors of abuse, PTSD.
My clients, both current and new, will experience a non-judgemental environment, which will enable us to develop an effective therapeutic alliance. It is this that will empower them to overcome the difficulties they are experiencing.
I am currently undertaking a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy as part of my continued professional development. I am committed to being a competent and effective therapist and offering my clients the best possible service I can.
How much does Counselling cost?
Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.
What should I expect from my Counselling session?
At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.
Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:
Face to face session
Group session
Phone session
Email session
Online through live chat services or video conferencing software
You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.
You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.
What should I look for when booking a Counselling session?
You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.
Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.
What issues can a Counsellor help with?
Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:
Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.
Physical health conditions such as infertility.
Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.
Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.
Sexual identity issues.
Divorce.
Redundancy and work issues.
Phobias and fears.
Can I get a Counselling Service online?
Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
