Phil has been tutoring my 8 and 6 year olds for almost a year now and their confidence and proficiency in maths has increased hugely. This has been really reassuring as a parent, particularly given the challenges the last year has presented us with! I would recommend Phil to anyone looking for a tutor for their children

I never write reviews but I love this school. My kids were previously at Wolsey Hall which was nice but not enough engagement and I was teaching them or they were self studying. I've watched many lessons at Interhigh since they started earlier this month. The teachers I've seen have been very engaging. They make an effort to connect to the kids. The homework is perfect. Not too long but little and often (much better than Wolsey Hall's assignments that took ages to complete). I find there is a lot of support. My kids feel like they can go to the teacher (by email) if they need something or IT if there is a technical issue. I really like the format of the lead lesson with, yes, a lot of kids (teachers still respond to questions and comments in the chat box or put up quizes to check if everyone is following along) and the two explore lessons where the content is covered in more depth with only 20 kids max. My kids play tennis full time and cannot attend a traditional school but this is the next best thing. They miss a couple lessons every afternoon but can watch those back after they train. The lesson platform is great, just takes a bit of getting used to. We love it!

I was a classroom teacher for thirty years. Now I work with students on a one-to-one basis, building confidence and developing understanding and knowledge for the individual young person. Lessons are designed around the needs of each student.
I love seeing a student's confidence grow, which means that s/he can then make real progress in a subject. Very often an individual will have become convinced that they can't do something (especially in Maths!). Being part of the moment when someone realises they CAN do it is very special.
After thirty years in the classroom I was looking for a new challenge. Friends had been asking me to help their children out of school. I decided to follow that path, realising that there was a real demand for support and help to back up school work. It was something which I knew I could do.
As a child, I lacked confidence and, at times, that impacted on my schoolwork. Side-by-side with academic achievement I am looking to build a healthy confidence in a student's abilities.
I have not been asked to undertake any online tutoring, mainly because schools have been offering such services themselves.
I have not been tutoring during the Covid-19 lockdowns. As we are all able to meet up again, I will naturally abide by whatever precautions a family is comfortable with.
