How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?

A healthy diet is incredibly important for your overall health and wellbeing. JK Health & Nutrition can work with you to create a tailored plan to help you to reach your diet and lifestyle goals.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the variety of my job and being able to help clients make sustainable lifestyle changes.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I wanted to be able to take the time to really get to know my clients and help them to change their diet. Working as a freelance dietitian enables me to do this.

Why should our clients choose you?

I qualified as a dietitian in 2006, with a Masters degree in nutrition and dietetics form the University of Nottingham. Since then I have balanced my time between NHS dietetic work and research, at some of the leading institutions in the UK.

In 2012 I was awarded my PhD in human nutrition. My PhD investigated the control of appetite and the metabolism of food after eating. It also investigated how the foods we eat can affect mood, appetite and performance. Following my extensive research experience, I am able to take the latest research and evidence and translate it into practical guidance, to enable my clients to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. I am passionate about my work and I aim to offer high quality, client focused, nutritional and dietetic advice.

During my career I have completed research for large multinational companies and presented my findings at national and international conferences. I have also provided guest lectures on the dietetics and nutrition degree courses at various universities and delivered seminars to local and national organisations, including various high profile sports teams.

I am a fully registered as a dietitian with the British Dietetic Association, the Freelance Dietitians Group and the Health & Care Professions Council (DT18285).

Your specialist will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to help you select the best treatment for your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a specialist today.

Dietitians are the only health professionals regulated and protected by law. Registered Nutritionists can provide evidence-based advice and information about food and healthy eating. Nutritional therapists provide alternative treatment, based on the idea that the body needs 'healing' and 'correcting'.

  • Credentials - Find a specialist that has the credentials to support your personal needs.

  • Experience - Ask how long your Dietitian or Nutritionist has been practising and look up their background.

  • Gimmicks - Check your specialist is not supporting an unsuitable diet brand or supplement.

  • Right fit - Make sure they are upfront in the areas they specialise in and are able to make referrals if your needs are outside their comfort zone.

The minimum requirement for a Dietitian is a degree in Dietetics or a related science degree with a postgraduate diploma or higher degree in Dietetics. Nutritionists should have attended a course which is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN).

Before you choose either a Nutritionist or a Dietitian, you could read testimonials and read reviews on their website. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and read reviews from past customers too.
