The Primary Tutor

Ket Stage 1/ Key Stage 2 Primary/SEN/ 11 Plus Online Tutor As The Primary Tutor there is nothing more exciting as a qualified and experienced Key Stage 1/2, Primary/SEN teacher than to experience those wonderful lightbulb moments, when everything finally starts to fall into place for a child, in their own, individual way! The Primary Tutor Philosophy From my teaching experience in both Primary and Special schools, I believe passionately that every child has great potential and that every child, and the way that they learn is unique. Tutoring allows me the time and space to truly meet the needs of every child that I teach, whatever their ability or additional need. My Methods I like to make my sessions fun, engaging and approachable, to encourage discussion. This way, any misconceptions can be picked up quickly and worked on together, as well as informing my assessment when considering what steps to take in the following session. My Goals I remember being at school and feeling like I was the only one who didn’t quite ‘get’ what was being taught, or that I was beginning to understand it but I needed somebody to explain it in a different way, that made sense to me. My goal is to nurture confidence; to show my students that they are as capable as anyone else but that maybe they just need to look at things in a different way. I believe that when we feel like we are being successful and celebrated for who we are, we start to see that learning can be enjoyable and even fun and this is my goal for my tutoring services.

What do you love most about your job?

As a teacher, it has become increasingly difficult to feel certain that you are meeting the needs of every child on the individual basis that they need. Private tutoring allows me to do this and to see students' confidence grow as they begin to understand the areas that they found confusing before.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Throughout Covid, I was being approached by parents who needed support with teaching their children at home during lockdown. I realised how valuable and rewarding online tutoring was then and I wanted to do it some more!

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a friendly, patient and experienced qualified teacher and tutor. I have extensive CPD from my time teaching across Key Stage 1 and 2, in both Mainstream primary school settings and special school settings.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes. Currently I tutor via Zoom but I am also competent in using Skype and Microsoft Teams.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I now tutor online only, which has allowed me to be available to more students that need that extra bit of support. Not only that, it is much easier for parents as no travelling is involved, you are able to be present during the sessions and children love to learn with technology – not to mention the whole world is ever increasingly learning and working online nowadays!
