What do you love most about your job?

My job doesn't feel like a job at all. It is a real privilege to serve my clients and to see them achieve really positive outcomes in their lives. People who chose this as a profession usually have lived experience that they too have overcome through support from a coach. All the best Life Coaches continue to have their own coach to keep them on the very top of their game. I value the time I spend with my coach who pushes me to be the absolute best I can be. At the end of the day, I will give you my absolute and total commitment to see you change your life in ways, you could ever have only imagined, as I will help you to see options and possibilities that were previously hidden from view.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After working for several years as a Director in a College, I decided to give it all up and retrain as a Life Coach - something I have always wanted to do. Over the years, I had always worked in some sort of counselling type voluntary role such as with Childline Scotland and the Samaritans. Like starting any new business, there have been challenges, but that is always the case when you step into the unknown. I feel very honoured that my clients put their trust in me and are prepared to put in the work to see a tangible step change in their lives. For me - my clients success is my success and my inspiration to go on and help as many people as I can.

Why should our clients choose you?

There are a number of Life Coaches out there, all who offer the same type of overall service. That said, there are some fundamental differences in their approach and the level of support offered to clients. I take a holistic approach initially with all my clients as I have found over time, that what people think is their issue is actually something entirely different when we look across the whole spectrum of someones life. To change in any area of your life it is important to understand your 'WHY' as without this, you will lose your motivation to see something through to the end. I work indepth with clients to understand their motivation for wanting change and improvement in their lives and I mentor them through achieving that.

I am very much a people person, I don't judge, I support, I understand, I encourage and I believe wholeheartedly, that anyone can change anything that is not working in their life with a little support and a clear road-map for the way ahead.

Your professional life coach will be able to advise you on the full range of coaching available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted life coach today.

You can have as many or as few life coaching sessions as you like. Many life coaches operate over the phone or via the internet so the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some people hire a life coach once every few months, some people have a session once a week.

Life coaching sessions will typically last up to an hour. Often after an initial assessment, sessions can be conducted over the phone, face to face, over email, via Skype/Zoom and occasionally through instant messaging.

During the session, your life coach will ask you a number of questions, such as what you want to achieve in life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. Although a life coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential.

Life coaching is focused on your present and your future. Coaching accepts your current reality and looks to improve your outcome moving forward. Life coaches are not health professionals and they do not diagnose you. By contrast, therapy focuses on your past and looks to delve into past actions and patterns. It is analytical but not action-oriented.

Most mainstream health insurance providers do not cover the costs of life coaching because it is not considered a mental health profession in the same way therapists and counsellors are.

Life coaches do not need to have any formal or academic qualifications but you may want to look for life coaches who possess an industry-specific qualification, such as the Life Coaching Diploma or Personal Performance Diploma (PPD).

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark, which shows you reviews from past customers who have used their life coaching services.

A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strength and abilities. This can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing health conditions and achieving life ambitions.

By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, life coaches empower clients and provide a toolkit of teachings to confidently face difficult challenges and overcome emotional barriers.

Life coaches can specialise in one of these particular areas of coaching: career coaching, executive business, group coaching, health and wellbeing, performance management, personal development, relationships, retirement, spiritual and youth coaching.

Rapport is one of the most important parts of life coaching. If you feel uncomfortable with your professional, you are unlikely to gain much from the session. It is advisable to get in contact before you book a session to meet your life coach so you can gauge how comfortable you are in their presence. It is worth talking to a few potential life coaches and ask questions.

Yes! As long as you have a strong internet connection, then your life coach can deliver sessions via an online video chat platform. Alternatively, it can be done over the phone.
