Planning your Wiltshire garden project

The first step to a better garden is deciding on the frequency of care. Having a clear checklist ensures you get the most accurate estimate for your property.

Understanding your Wiltshire service estimate

When you receive a quote from a garden maintenance expert, it usually covers the core requirements of the job:

  • Professional expertise: Skilled labour for tasks like pruning, mowing, or planting.

  • Fuel and machinery: Use of commercial-grade lawnmowers, strimmers, and shears.

  • Site preparation: Brief assessment and preparation of the work area.

Note that large items like topsoil, mulch, or decorative plants are usually billed separately from the hourly labour rate.

Professional standards for Wiltshire gardeners

  • Certifications: For high-end landscaping, ask if they have RHS horticultural training or similar verified experience.

  • Environmental Safety: Ensure they have a valid Waste Carrier Licence to legally remove debris from your property.

  • Liability: A reputable garden maintenance expert will always carry Public Liability Insurance to cover any accidental damage during the maintenance process.

Key questions to ask your garden maintenance expert

  1. Do you have RHS qualifications or similar experience for this specific task?

  2. Does your quote include basic clean-up and travel within Wiltshire?

  3. Do you have a valid Waste Carrier Licence and Public Liability Insurance?

  4. Are materials like plants or seeds included in this estimate?

What do you love most about your job?

Being outdoors and close to nature, but also the satisfaction that gardening brings. In the uk the seasons bring such variety and its lovely to see the direct outcome of your work, whether that's instant results from a well mown law, or the bursting into life of a climbing rose after a winter prune.
I love meeting people and the pride that comes when someone thanks you for a job well done.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After a long career 'indoors' I wanted to do something special. which is why I took up hedgelaying. It is a traditional skill which is so, so good for the natural environment, providing habitats for native birds, mammals and plants.
Being a lifelong gardener and grower, gardening was the natural extension to that and starting my own business was really the only way to go to provide the consistent quality of work and customer service.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have a variety of skills backed by extensive equipment that enables me to achieve high quality results. But above that I listen to the customer's needs and provide a service to achieve the results they want. Communication is key together with integrity and trust.
