‘19 Certificate of Excellence

Hello friends, my name is Nichola and I live in Oxted with my partner, children and variety of pets including our lovely dog. I have always loved animals and when I was 18 years old, I went to live on a farm where I helped take care of the cows, sheep, chickens and farm pets, a cat and two Border Collies. I also had my own dogs, cats and fowl to look after too. I was so happy being surrounded by animals that when I was offered a job as a student veterinary nurse, I knew it was the role for me and snapped it up. Whilst working in the vets I attended college to complete an RCVS qualification in veterinary nursing. My daily life consisted of day to day animal care, general nursing, surgical nursing, puppy classes and socialisation, nurse clinics, dog training and much more. I was in regular contact with all types of animals and their numerous breeds and sizes. I loved it! Unfortunately as the years went by my fur babies went to heaven and I moved to London and joined the Metropolitan Police Service, life was very different, no pets and no vets! I missed having animals in my life so I started volunteering to walk other people's dogs and took more animal care courses. When my youngest child was born, I decided that after my maternity leave it was necessary to take sometime out from the stresses of trying to be a mum, partner and full-time police officer and so I took a career break. We opened our doors and our hearts to our Bulldog and I realised just how much I missed having animals in my life on a daily basis. In March 2017, I decided that I would use my qualifications in veterinary nursing, dog behaviour, dog grooming, dog walking and pet sitting, plus my 20 years experience in animal care to do something which I have a true passion for! In April 2017 I opened Paw Patrol and I haven't looked back since. Since April 2017 I have had the privilege of taking care of some of the loveliest pets and meeting lots of wonderful people. I can’t believe that I have been operating for 2 years now! I have loved every second of it. Paw Patrol are currently offering dog walking and pet home visit services. We will be adding daycare and holiday care in 2020. We have two different types of dog walking service. The first is the Pup Pack Walk which is a one hour walk in fields, woodlands and parklands away from main roads. The group will consist of no more than four dogs per walker and is suitable for sociable dogs who are able to walk for 50 minutes to an hour. We collect your dog and drop them off clean and dry at the end of the walk. The second is the Solo Patrol. This walk is very much tailored to meet the needs of you and your dog. The walk can be as short or as long as you like and can be conducted in a number of places (if you want your dog to get to walk better near traffic for example). This walk is suitable for puppies who are old enough to go out, unsocial dogs, elderly dogs, dogs that need more than an hour and dogs that have mobility problems. We can also visit your home whilst you are out or away. We take care of your pets and plants if necessary. Providing fresh food and water, clearing litter trays, cages, hutches and specialised environments. I have experience with all type of animals and do not mind the more unusual pet (in our house we have a dog, tarantula, leopard gecko and crested gecko). We cover Oxted, Old Oxted, Tandridge, Limpsfield, Hurst Green and surrounding areas. I also have an amazing assistant who is able to offer dog walking and pet home visit services in Caterham, Woldingham, Warlingham and Whyteleafe. Please do get in touch if you need some help with your pets. We love our animals and we love what we do!

What do you love most about your job?

I have always loved animals. I think this stems from not being allowed any whilst growing up, they intrigued me and as soon as I was old enough to get my own pet, I did. I love the fact that no day is different and I get to spend most of my day outdoors in beautiful landscapes and fresh air.

I love the different personalities that I meet and enjoy helping them thrive and stay happy and healthy.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked in animal care for many years and due to a change in circumstances I moved to London and joined the police. I was hoping to work in the dog section, but when I started a family I realised just how stressful my life was trying to balance being a mum, being a partner and a full time police officer. After my maternity leave I took a career break and realised that I was perfectly qualified and experienced to start my own business in animal care. I would be working in a role that I loved and had passion for and I feel very strongly about ensuring each and every pet gets the very best care that is individual to them.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am qualified and have over 20 years experience in professional animal care. I am passionate about my work and have a genuine love for animals. For me this is not just about starting a business to earn money. It is about meeting animals and their owners, working out how I can best assist them and then providing a 5 star service which is individual to their needs.

I have worked with many dogs with behaviour problems and enjoy the challenge of working with their owners to modify the behaviour using only positive, reward based methods.

I am reliable and trustworthy. The people that known me jokingly call me an animal whisperer because animals love me and I this is because I love them.
I am enhanced DBS checked, fully insured and hold relevant qualifications.
