Wonderful Walkies of Aldenham

Hertfordshire

Understanding your pet is part of your family, I provide a dual service of dog walking and both cat and dog care from your own home. My canine first aid training incorporated both cats and dogs. I certified in Sarah Whiteheads' course, 21 days to a Clever dog and became a member of the Inner Circle with the Dog Training College. Recently completing 8 Master Class courses. I have certified in Advanced Canine Behaviour and Facial Expression. About to submit my final pspers to become a CPD Puppy Training Specialist. Also I have studied with IMDT in the history of Canine development and dog motivation and behaviour. Your dog(s) will always be walked by me personally, either in a solo walk or group (maximum of three dogs). This allows me to focus my attention and pace on your pet's needs. I believe that fitness is fun and kindness is king. I am passionate about walking and a firm believer that an exercised dog helps to make a stable and happy pet. I am an RSPCA volunteer dog walker, which further fuelled my desire to start my own dog walking business. Additionally, I offer my Doggie stay and play home visit. This includes feeding, toilet break, play time, affection and company for your pet, when you are not at home for up to a day. For clients wanting their cat relaxed and in maximum comfort at home, when they are away, I offer my Cat-tastic service. The care will include food, water, litter tray, affection and play time, as suits your specific pet. I also administer medicine for cats and have dealt with medical emergencies for both cats and dogs.

What do you love most about your job?

I learnt from the RSPCA dogs, that a bond and understanding can be immediate and instinctive. Alternatively, take patience and time. Connectivity, trust and understanding does gently build. I gain fulfilment within my service as I see how the cats' and dogs' personalities unfold and our bond develops.

What inspired you to start your own business?

As a little girl, my Father asked me the classic question, "what career do you want?" Instinctively, I answered "to work with animals". Well, actually I became a successful recruiter/head hunter. Having achieved all that I wanted to in this career, I planned for a future career change working with animals.

Growing up with dogs and volunteering with the RSPCA, really fuelled my thoughts to set up Wonderful Walkies of Aldenham. I am so happy when I am walking with a dog. Two passions combined. Now I am moving my psychology skills from human to canine. I really enjoy the service that I give and believe the pets in my care, sense this too.

The price of hiring a dog walker will depend on the area of the UK in which you live, with prices typically higher in the South of England and particularly in London. The cost of hiring a dog walker will often be lower in the North of England and in Scotland and Wales.

The most important thing when you’re hiring a dog walker is that both you and your dog trust them. You should also ensure that your dog walker has public liability insurance that covers them in case of damage, accident or loss. The best way to find a reliable and trustworthy dog walker is by reading reviews of previous clients. When you hire a dog walker through Bark, you can browse the profiles of dog walkers in your local area and read honest reviews from genuine customers.

It is recommended that a dog walker should walk a maximum of four dogs at a time, to enable them to maintain good control of each dog. Most dog walkers will give you the option of having your dog walked alone or with other dogs. Walking with other dogs will help your dog to develop valuable social skills. However, if your dog is reactive, you may prefer for them to be walked alone.
