Working with Emma has honestly changed my life. I have suffered my whole life with anxiety and OCD without realising what it was and Emma has been wonderful supporting me through this. I have tried other therapists before but I have never found someone as compassionate and personal as Emma. I love Emma's sense of humour and how she can help me see the more positive flip side of situations. She can really make me laugh which is all I need sometimes so that the world doesn't seem so terrible. I know can notice the unhelpful tendencies I have and we are working towards more positive ways to view things. I would recommend Emma to anyone as she is honestly one of the most caring people I have ever met.
Guiding you in spirituality, relationship, career, life in general, depression, anxiety and career change.

Having been impressed with Ami's street / candid photography online I decided to get a 1:1 coaching session with her. Having done street photography for a couple of years on and off, I was keen to build my confidence on getting closer to subjects, improving my observation skills and awareness of the light. I am pleased to say that an hour in to the 5hr workshop with Ami i was already feeling significantly more confident and by the end of the session really felt in a much better place. Ami is great fun and really helped me build my confidence quickly. I came away with some great shots that i would probably never have captured otherwise, and now feel much more positive about where i can take my street photography. Highly recommended!

I have been providing professional, private counselling and therapy as The Independent Counsellor since 2010. I specialise in helping individuals dealing with a wide range of life issues. This includes (but is not an exhaustive list) helping people find ways to cope, face and overcome personal distresses such as, anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, personal or family health problems (including physical and mental health), relationships, loss.
Is life getting on top of you? Do you have more sad days than happy days recently? Whether it's due to problems with relationships, work, health, identity - or maybe a loss of one of those things, I can help by providing a safe, caring, confidential & non-judgemental environment to support you as you explore options and find your way forward again. I still remember how lost I'd been feeling when I first reached out to a counsellor - and how amazed I felt, as the simple act of talking saw seemingly insurmountable problems melt away to reveal the way forward.

I wasnt sure what to expect from my councelling sessions but after months of great dispair I had to do something . I spent a few months seeing Fiona and I feel she has heled me greatly and overhauled areas of my life and my mental health . She listened carefully , I felt like I could really open up to her and she helped me get to the bottom of some strange behaviors . I often looked foratrd to our sessions and felt with each passing one I made great progress . I have now stopped the sessions but I know she is there if I ever need to take them up again . Towards the end of our sessions I felt like I was catching up woth a friend . I cannot thank Fiona enough for helping me through what was a really diffcult time .
Taking the first step into seeking help for your own mental health can be extremely daunting. You might feel like you are alone in your struggles or have no one to listen to you. These difficulties can impact every aspect of your life and prevent you from living in healthy and fulfilling way. Talking therapy can help you express the way you truly feel and give you the safe space to make sense of what is happening.

How much does Counselling cost?
Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.
What should I expect from my Counselling session?
At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.
Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:
Face to face session
Group session
Phone session
Email session
Online through live chat services or video conferencing software
You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.
You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.
What should I look for when booking a Counselling session?
You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.
Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.
