I an a retired Manging Director who has retrained to follow my passion to provide professional services based on Integrated Psychotherapeutic Counselling and also Hypnotherapy. I work on a one-to-one basis, using a collaborative, empathetic and non-judgemental style. This helps Clients identify what they really want from therapy and then I assist and empower them in exploring how they might progress to achieve it.
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, EFT and EMDR practitioner and Certified Life Coach, I qualified at the Manchester College of Hypnotherapy and Coaching in May 2020. In the past year I have worked with clients face to face and online in the UK and abroad to help with a number of issues. I offer a free consultation to listen to each clients situation and their needs to then tailor their session to give them the best possible service to assist them with their pain, emotions, habits and healing.

Prior to qualifying as an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master NLP Practitioner and Motivational Coach in 2010, I had been a Counsellor for almost 10 years and have successfully worked with people troubled with a whole range of issues. This means that in addition to Hypnotherapy, I also have a wide range of therapies and techniques to help you change the way you feel or think much quicker than counselling alone.

After struggling for years with personal insecurities, never feeling good enough, low confidence and anxiety, I decided to try Hypnotherapy. Katy is a real professional, supportive and non-judgemental. I felt a massive weight lifted after the first session and now feel completely different after four sessions. My attitude towards my self has changed and I now feel confident to be myself with the knowledge that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. Thank you Katy, I truly hope you are able to help many others with your amazing gift.
Integrative means training in many styles of counselling to be able to tailor the sessions to the individual with a friendly approach in a discreet office with private parking. Or online availability.

I know Alan through Scouts so asked him to work with my 17 year old son to enhance his Judo. Lyle’s coach would often say with a bit of confidence he could do well in judo. He would often lose his first fight at competitions and it was put down to a lack of confidence.
Lyle was impressed with Alan, the sessions went well, so as a parent we just needed to see if Lyle would change at future competitions. Judo competitions are normally later in the year, but he got a last minute call-up to represent Scotland at a Home Nations Team Competition in Wales. Lyle won 5 fights and the team won gold. Feedback has been heartwarming e.g. one spectator was heard saying “Lyle is on fire!” Lyle is looking forward to working with Alan again in the near future. Thanks Alan.
Search for Destination Judo on FB to see the team photos, dated 30 June.
Free 1 hour strategy session to see if we’re a ‘fit’. Then I can coach you through a number of exceptional, structured, transformational programmes that have been developed, tested and refined over the last 40 years. The foundation programme is a 12 week commitment. As new habits and thought processes require time, support, and structure to develop it is advisable to work consistently with a qualified coach.

How much does Counselling cost?
Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.
What should I expect from my Counselling session?
At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.
Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:
Face to face session
Group session
Phone session
Email session
Online through live chat services or video conferencing software
You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.
You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.
What should I look for when booking a Counselling session?
You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.
Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.
What issues can a Counsellor help with?
Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:
Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.
Physical health conditions such as infertility.
Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.
Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.
Sexual identity issues.
Divorce.
Redundancy and work issues.
Phobias and fears.
Can I get a Counselling Service online?
Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
