As a qualified therapist, I hold a Bsc (Hons) degree in Systemic Counselling from The Family Institute (University of South Wales) I am currently counselling for a mental health charity based in Bridgend as well as this I am offering private online and telephone sessions. I am a systemically trained counsellor,’ Systemic' therapy really means 'relational' as it emphasises the fact that people live in a world with others, not just inside their heads or bodies.

I’d been struggling with mindset and self-confidence for a while with moments of depression. I’d been considering going back to medication after 10 months but wanted to explore a non-medicated way to move through some mental challenges and blocks. The outcomes I’ve achieved from the Breakthrough have been the removing of the mental strain and stress from overthinking, recognising the amount of negative self-talk I say to myself regularly and releasing the guilt, which stemmed from the birth of my premature twin daughters who had to go straight into neonatal care, for which I’ve held for 5 years. Before the Breakthrough, I felt quite low, unmotivated with very little belief or confidence in myself. Since the Breakthrough, I’ve noticed how much more relaxed I am in general, the negative self-talk is rare and I have newfound confidence now that I’ve worked with Dave. The mental energy it has taken to hold back negativity is so much lower and now have the energy to focus on my goals. I believe life is getting busier and more demanding, especially on working parents. It’s so difficult to juggle everything mentally and not feel under pressure. For anyone feeling stressed, undervalued, guilty or lacking in confidence, Dave has a natural way of breaking through the barriers and mental blockers and helping you focus on where you want to be. I’ve only known Dave a short time but his support and understanding has made a tremendous difference to my mindset and helping me find clarity amid guilt, depression and negative self-talk. Dave has a great way with his clients that allows them the space to think and speak on their own terms without judgement or persistence. I believe this is why his Breakthroughs are so effective. I’ve been to counselling before but after speaking for a long time, I didn’t feel any better. With Dave’s Breakthroughs, he completed exercises with me to understand who I am, why I think like I do and what methods I can use in the future.
For the last two decades I've worked on one simple question: "How does change happen?" In 2004, it happened for me, when I recovered from addiction, and in the following decades I trained as a psychotherapist and practiced in both counselling and coaching. In that time, I've seen the miracle of change happen in countless people. In my work with others, I've seen people with crippling addictions literally come back from the edge and become stable, happy and whole again.
My approach to counselling There are many different types of therapies out there and it can be very difficult to know which one to choose. I prefer an investigative approach to counselling, this can help me get to the core of the issue. This then allows me to offer the correct methods and approaches depending on what your needs may be. I’m experienced in a wide range of areas and am always learning and enhancing my practice by attending workshops and training.

The main thing I love about my work, is by seeing how (through the counselling process) my clients are able to completely transform the quality of their lives. I have clients from all walks of life, with different backgrounds, and different problems, however people can be generally 'stuck' in a way of thinking, a way of relating, or in a way of behaving, that causes them harm. Therefore, I help people to identify the obstacle, that stands directly between them, and the life they truly desire. I also help people to become very self aware, and by the time our work together has ended, my clients are able to away, with a great understanding of themselves, self acceptance & an invisible tool bag that helps them address any future problems that may arise. So - what I love most, is helping to make a difference, and helping to create positive change in peoples lives.
I was inspired to set up my own private counselling practice ( after working as a volunteer counsellor for many different organisations over the years) because most organisations worked to a limited amount of sessions. And most clients' I worked with at this point, needed more sessions. I feel this situation was as frustrating for me, as it was for my clients. Having my own business changed all of that - I can now work until the work is complete. My clients are the experts on themselves, they know, and they feel, when the time is right to end.
I am so passionate about helping people, and helping to make a difference. I offer my clients a very comfortable space, in which they are free to be themselves. I am non judgmental, and really listen to my clients pain, and life struggles. I take my clients on a journey, helping them to discover their real selves. I help them to put the jigsaw puzzles of their life together, helping them to see the links between the past, and where they are now. I am able to pin point the effects of the unconscious , and make them aware of it's effects in the present moment. I help them to look into the future and create the life they desire. I also help them to become more self aware, more resilient, and more understanding of themselves and others. my clients are always in control, and I never take them anywhere they don't want to go.
