Started when I was very young, I was gifted as a BMX racer and used my paper-round to develop, market and advertise my hobby, this then allowed me to engage friends to deliver the papers so I could concentrate on my racing.
This led me to create a team with our own brand and image, from this the next step was to set our garage as a shop and repair centre for customers.
I continued this as I developed into motor sports and have continued to run teams in Trials, Enduro and Motocross. This over time developed to the level that we owned a motorcycle and cycle business, selling bikes equipment and clothing. Ultimately successfully selling the business.
DKS Sport ( Events )
From those early days hosting and running small BMX events in local fields, the development and growth of the business and personal success we as a family and team grew to a level where we hosted various regional events up to and including international and several major British championship events.
We were granted a round of the ACU British championship series.
We were granted National then International status for a series of event across the UK based on the (kick-start) stadium trials.
We have also hosted various events from British Cycling, Cross Country running and Obstacle course racing.
The development of the business combined with my training and skills as a experienced event organiser led to the set up of :-

From grass roots events and shows, to international multi day and series events.
This includes utilisation of our connections and history, to the liaison of all parties including Risk assessment and HSE standards.
We assist with athlete management and development. This includes every aspect from personal development to Branding, and sponsorship development to training.
We also work with businesses looking to place sponsorship and or form a partnership with athletes, teams or events in the sporting arena.
DKS Business Development
I have used my training and expertise to assist the development of various businesses. In the beginning these were sporting connections looking to develop and add a real Brand and Image upgrade, whilst maintain and improving the customer experience. These clients all came by way of referral.
Then the connections started to come from outside the sporting world, still all looking to develop their brand, image and customer experience / engagement.
Having worked in the hospitality sector, where we carried out various mystery shopping visits.
We are working with fashion and clothing compaines to develop their range styles and engage a new audience for their products.
We are working with businesses in the motorcycle / motortrade to develop, brand, image and customer engagement.
The business has now grown to include several consultants who all collaborate on the projects to bring a total package of knowledge and expertise. From development of concepts and ideas, through online presence, web and social media, marketing, design and finance.
I have over 25 years experience working within the sporting sector, bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the businesses I have worked and consulted with. My core strengths which I have brought to my clients have been developing the organisations; Brand, Image, Customer Experience and Engagement.
Why I see the cross over from my experience in sports to business development?
The development of sport into a major business over the last couple of decades has seen a new understanding for business rules, regulations and most importantly governance. Sport is now seen on a global platform and has to deliver on all objectives whilst being under the media and worlds eyes. This combined with the financial input both private and state funded has highlighted the need for real governance, genuine definable frameworks, mission statements, future planning and grass roots development that didn't have such importance previously.
I have made it my personal goal to understand this from all sides, not only as a competitor, sponsor, official but also a spectator. As this is also a major revenue generating source for sporting businesses, which is often overlooked.
I carried on from my younger days as a national motor sports athlete and was elected on to the board of the ACU (Governing body of motorcycle sport in the UK) where I undertook as many courses and training programs as possible. This led to me being put forward for the FIM (Governing body for world motorcycle championship events) thus learning about the impact the sport has globally, economically and environmentally.
I have worked with; British Cycling on grass roots development and clay target shooting on their Branding, Improvement of Image and customer experience combined with ongoing development of social perception and engagement.
