Since 2004 we have generated reductions for every client with an average reduction of 23% and overall savings surpassing £5 million. As we have no allegiance to any supplier, we initially focus our work on deriving results from the clients' current suppliers. Yes, we will include potential new suppliers in the process but changes will only be proposed if there are no other options available. We provide personnel to collect and analyse the initial data. This is then developed into what we term as a baseline. This is discussed and approved with the client to form the basis of our work and how our performance will be measured. In addition, we speak to key personnel to understand the fine detail, the service level specifications that you require from your suppliers. We manage the implementation of any reductions that we identify to ensure that they are realised in an effective and timely manner. Once any results have been implemented we provide quarterly reports confirming the actual reductions that have been acheived.

What do you love most about your job?

Demonstrating the positive impact purchasing can have on an organisation. In addition to the obvious financial rewards, the result of an assignment is often a streamlined and more focused supply base thereby allowing the client to have more focused relationships with its suppliers together with an improvement in administrative productivity.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been in a purchasing role all of my working life, which was initially in the manufacturing and engineering sector. In 2003 I was informed that I was going to be made redundant due to a relocation of our manufacturing facility. I had considered creating my own business before but the timing was not right. This time it was. I had the time to carry out research and confirm that there was a gap in the market.
