West Midlands

The recent recipient of the LUXlife magazine's Global Wedding Awards 2022 - Wedding Photographer of the Year (West Midlands). Hello there, I am James, an -Insert three punchy adjectives- Wedding Photographer operating out of the West Midlands (but willing to travel). COVID killed a lot of businesses in the Wedding Industry, not mine. I worked two frontline jobs (Food delivery and hospital cleaning) to make sure I could keep my business above water because this is what I love doing. My wedding photography is my life, it's my passion and the fact that my business is self-sustaining again fills my chest with pride. I spent so long working to make this dream a reality and I continue to work to make sure that every aspect of my business is watertight. Underpromise, overdeliver, Sounds like a cliche but ask my past customers if it's a cliche when I routinely stay anything up to 14 hours on their wedding day to make sure I capture everything. Ask my past customers over COVID who canceled and I refunded them all their money without even thinking twice (Part of the reason I worked two jobs) because I am not morally bankrupt enough to steal people's money when we were all in it together. I am still here after 18 months of hardship, I worked hard to make sure I am still here so that I can do what I love. So that I can join you on your wedding day and give you the best possible experience. The average cost of a wedding photographer in the UK is £1590, I am routinely placed within a bracket of photographers who charge £1200-£1500 but I charge £795 for my full day. This is because I don't do this for the money, I do it because I love the challenge it brings, I love the people I meet, I love the energy and the vibe of a wedding day, I love the conversations and the banter I have with people and most importantly unlike 90% of other people who work in my industry, I love wearing a suit. I am Professionally Qualified, City & Guilds Accredited, and a qualified member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, I am also a registered professional with the Guild of Photographers. I have over £10k in camera kit and equipment and a professional editing suite with a huuuuge monitor for all of the darkroom work. As well as all the hires on Bark that I have, I had over 70 hires on Bidvine.com until it was acquired by Bark, They wouldn't let me migrate my hires as I had accounts on both sites and there was no way to merge them! I am eager to get going again and you won't find many people with a hunger to be successful and to do a great job like mine. I am a people person, I am confident and happy in large crowds, around new people and I have a natural ability to make people smile. I served 12 years in the British Army, leaving with a conduct record of exemplary, this typically means I am on time every time, I am always immaculately presented and I will be good with your grandparents! I hold the following qualifications in photography; City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Wedding and Portrait Photography City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Advanced Wedding and Portrait Photography City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Digital Manipulation NCON Level 3 Award in Photography Ofqual 600/9343/2 NCON Level 3 Award in Graphic Design (Pixel-Based Image Manipulation) Ofqual 500/8846/4 So get in touch, We can tailor make you a package or you can choose from one of my 'ready made' ones. What do you love most about your job?

I love being a part of the energy of weddings, I love capturing all of the moments as they happen and knowing that my couples will look back through their photos and have a life long lasting, tangible memory of their big day.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was in the last few years of my intended 12-year military career and I had seriously fallen out of love with engineering (Something I had been in my entire life). I wanted to pursue a career that I also enjoyed but I also had a burning desire to be self-employed. I can't put my finger on when I wanted to be a wedding photographer but I used the last 2 years of my Army career to shoot dozens of wedding for free, shadow other photographers, get qualified, I also worked in a studio for free for 6 weeks as well as undertaking a couple of thousand hours of studying in my own time and constantly practicing, All to make sure that when I went full time I could give my customers the best possible experience and value for their money.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am energetic, hard-working and creative. All of my past customers would say that I am the hardest working person on their day, I work tirelessly throughout the entire process to make sure that you are 100% happy, I am calm and collected and I tend to ground people on the day when they are getting stressed out, but I also have an amazing sense of humour which does wonders to soothe peoples nerves. I have an ability to capture candid moments as they happen which produce amazing images.
