This was my first foray into counselling, and I could not have asked for a better first experience.
Carol is incredibly easy to talk to, and hosts no judgement or bias. I immediately felt comfortable in her presence (which is a big deal for me as I am incredibly secular) and openly spoke about the things bothering me.
Carol did not force her ideas or opinions on me, instead she gently lead me to understanding where I was, and why I was feeling/behaving the way I had been.
I made some genuine improvements working alongside Carol, and fully intend to carry on my sessions with her, as they are incredibly cathartic and insightful.

Everyone come to Deborah's class every Monday. Pregnancy aside, I'm a stone lighter, sleep better and my bad knee is no longer bad! It also inspired me to do my own kundalini practice for conscious pregnancy which enabled me to have a short and relatively painless labour.
Suitable for anyone to do and we focus on raising kundalini energy and working in harmony with our chakras. It's spiritual but not religious and honours our own creative and restorative powers. Lots of lovely kriyas and meditations. We are a very welcoming and friendly class of all abilities and ages. If you're thinking of starting yoga or just want to chill out whilst getting fitter then I highly recommend it!

Changing peoples lives every day is the best part of my job, I do what I love and I love what I do. I never become tired of hearing your unique story and freeing you from whatever emotional, physical or relational pain is holding you back.
My mum qualified as a relationship counsellor when I was 8 years old so being interested in people, listening to them and helping them has always been a part of me, I could never imagine doing anything else.
I thrive on releasing the potential that I see within every person, no matter what age they are or what they have been through before we meet. The best way I can do this is to work privately with clients to give them the personalised service they are looking for. I have run my own business now for 8 years and have loved every second, I set people free from whatever emotional or physical issue is affecting them.
My career began within the NHS as a Physiotherapist. I went on to qualify as a psychological therapist and have worked for several charities and organisations, including Relate, Relationship Counselling Highland, and the British Army. I started my own private practice while posted to Canada with the British Army, which is also when I published my 5* reviewed book 'Stay Calm and Content No Matter What Life Throws At You', which is on Amazon.
I draw on my extensive knowledge, training and experience to free you from whatever issue, pain or trauma is holding you back. You will find a calm, welcoming and peaceful space when you come to work with me, whether that is online, or face to face.
Your therapy experience will be safe and empowering and I will draw on any or all of the following approaches to empower you; including Rapid Transformational Therapy; Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Strengths Psychology, Psychodynamic Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Transactional Analysis.
I am an accredited member of the UK National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
Yes I work online, usually using zoom. Many of my Bark reviews are from online sessions which are just as powerful and as effective as face to face sessions.
I work mainly on zoom but for face to face clients we keep socially distanced, everything is thoroughly cleaned in-between clients and the conservatory room I use for therapy is warm and heated but also airy and well-ventilated with open windows and direct access to the garden so that a client does not need to walk through an inside space. The garden is private and not overlooked and all clients report feeling safe and secure, even during the pandemic.
How much do Therapists cost?
This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.
This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.
Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.
How do I find the right Therapist?
You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.
It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.
How many sessions of Therapy will I need?
Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.
You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.
What should I look for in a Therapist?
Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.
You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.
What are the benefits of Therapy?
Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.
Can I get a Therapist online?
Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
