Understanding your Sheffield service estimate

When you receive a quote from a garden maintenance expert, it usually covers the core requirements of the job:

  • Professional expertise: Skilled labour for tasks like pruning, mowing, or planting.

  • Fuel and machinery: Use of commercial-grade lawnmowers, strimmers, and shears.

  • Site preparation: Brief assessment and preparation of the work area.

Note that large items like topsoil, mulch, or decorative plants are usually billed separately from the hourly labour rate.

Professional standards for Sheffield gardeners

  • Certifications: For high-end landscaping, ask if they have RHS horticultural training or similar verified experience.

  • Environmental Safety: Ensure they have a valid Waste Carrier Licence to legally remove debris from your property.

  • Liability: A reputable garden maintenance expert will always carry Public Liability Insurance to cover any accidental damage during the maintenance process.

Key questions to ask your garden maintenance expert

  1. Do you have RHS qualifications or similar experience for this specific task?

Here is a list of what services I offer. 1. Grass cutting.(gardens come in different shapes and sizes, this is why I use a self propelled lawn mower and a strimmer to complete every job) 2. Hedge cutting. (Whether you want your hedge trimming or resizing I can help, I have long reach hedge trimmers, chainsaws and even loopers to get the job done) 3. Weed removal/prevention. 4. Mulching. (Sometimes a garden needs some mulch, this can be either wood chip, bark and even a decorative stone. There is countless of options for adding a little bit of decoration to a garden) 5. Edging (want your garden to stand out from the crowd? A nice neat edge can achieve this result) 6. Overgrown garden. (These are my favourite jobs, the ones that I look forward to, overgrown out of control gardens that need someone who is willing to cut it back so you the customer can make a choice of what you want to do next with your garden.

What do you love most about your job?

“One of the most important things for me is to enjoy a good work-life balance. By doing so, I find that I retain the energy and passion I need to perform to a high standard at work. Doing this job is fantastic because it gives me the freedom and control that I need. Unlike working a 9-5 job, working for myself enables me to work on a flexible schedule to suit myself and my customer's needs."

What inspired you to start your own business?

Initially, entering into business didn’t cross my mind. and It stayed that way for a long time until some of my friends asked me to help with their mum's overgrown garden. After, the same friends told other people about my work and my business grow from there. With their confidence in me, they encouraged me to start my own gardening business. I took a leap of faith and over the past couple of years, it has been growing. I can't thank them enough for believing in me and helping me get to a place where my confidence grows every day doing the job I love.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am knowledgeable in gardening but still learning, this gives me chance to give my view on ideas to help customers and even listen and learn what the customer needs. I have found that over the years every customer is different and like stuff done in different ways, I am able to accommodate that in my work. I have a very high standard of work quality and keep producing this with every job that comes my way. I have found that quality comes before quantity.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Using the power of technology I am able to give quotes online, this is done via Whatsapp.
To do so I will need the approx size of the job and a visual to get a feel of what work needs to be carried out, and I have found using Whatsapp has helped me to be able to do this.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I understand the difficulties that everyone has and is still facing due to the pandemic, I implemented a no-face-to-face approach to my services. To achieve this talking to a customer can be done via Whatsapp via video chat, this gives you the chance to explain and show me the work you want doing.
Making payments couldn't be easier, even though I do accept cash I have a business PayPal account that every customer can make payments to using my email address.
