How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?

As far as I'm concerned, there are many facets to the healthcare world, Nutritional Therapy being one of them. I firmly believe that by working alongside conventional medicine, good quality nutrition can help better manage the pathophysiology of disease and even aid disease prevention. I would even go as far as saying that good nutrition is the number one key to wellness, both mentally and physically.

What do you love most about your job?

Without doubt, what I love most about my job is the satisfaction I get from seeing life changing results. I accompany my clients on a personal journey and, providing the right route is taken, that journey can and often does lead to incredible changes. It's very exciting for me, as a Nutritionist, to witness. The capabilities of good nutrition never fail to amaze me.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My journey into nutrition began about seven years ago when my mother started complaining of horrific stomach pains. Her symptoms persisted week after week and fears emerged as to what could be causing such severe pain. After seeking medical advice and following several medical examinations, my mother was diagnosed with Diverticular Disease; a disease characterised by small pockets (diverticula) that develop in the lining of the large intestine, that can become inflamed. What we didn't realise at the stage of diagnosis, was the lack of long-term medical treatment available for Diverticular Disease. Although my mother's symptoms improved marginally under medical guidance, the level of improvement was not significant and symptoms inevitably continued and began destroying the life of a lady who was otherwise very much a confident and sociable individual. That in itself prompted me to look further into the condition, initially referring to literature focused on nutrition for disease and ultimately embarking on a three year study programme in Nutrition at the College of Naturopathic Medicine. The course was very in-depth, with a particular focus on nutritional science. During the three years, I had the privilege of being lectured by some of the worlds leading figures in Nutrition, as well as taking part in over 200 hours of clinical practice. I'd always considered us to be a 'healthy' family, at least this was what I once thought. My studies and subsequent research have lead me to rethink our relationship with food and the concept of food as merely fuel. My mother has since embarked on her own nutrition journey, making significant diet and lifestyle changes. She is now symptom free and enjoying life! In starting my own business, I am now in a position where I can support other individuals on their journeys towards better health and am thrilled to be sharing my passion for healthy eating.

Why should our clients choose you?

My passion for nutrition and its ability to enhance health and wellbeing has enabled me to support many individuals, with numerous health concerns. I am registered and regulated by the British Association for Applied Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and am also a member of the Complementary and Natural healthcare Council (CNHC).
