What do you love most about your job?

We love making a difference to the lives and wellbeing of our valued Clients. We want to meet the needs and preferences of each individual, as well as making wishes and dreams come true.

We also enjoy motivating & rewarding our friendly, caring, well trained team of CareGivers. They, in turn, provide the highest levels of service to our Clients.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Olly and Chris, our two founding directors, had real world experiences of being primary carers for relatives. They both had a number of disappointing experiences with national franchise care providers and felt that things could & should be improved. We have built a local organisation, headquartered in Hove, that offers a full range of services to enable independent living at home.

Why should our clients choose you?

We have a "Client Pledge" that summarises our levels of care and attention to detail.

Person-centred care:
Our Registered Manager will meet with you to design a home-care plan tailored to your needs and preferences. We would also love to hear your wishes and dreams too!

Dignity and respect:
We will treat you with dignity and respect at all times while you're receiving care and treatment. This means having privacy when you need and want it. Everybody will be treated as an equal.

Consent:
We will ask for your consent (or anybody legally acting on your behalf) before any care or treatment is given to you.

Staffing:
We only employ people who can provide high quality care and treatment with compassion. We have strong recruitment procedures in place and carry out enhanced DBS checks for any criminal records and applicant’s work history. We will ensure we have enough suitably qualified, competent and experienced staff to make sure we can meet these standards. Our staff will be given the support, training and supervision they need to help them do their job. We are Living Wage employers and also pay our caregivers paid travel, paid training and paid holiday. We also encourage and reward staff to make your wishes and dreams come true. Let us know what would make your day!

Safety:
We will make sure care and treatment is free from risk of harm and that any danger is avoided. We will assess the risks to your health and safety during any care or treatment and make sure our staff have the qualifications, competence, skills and experience to keep you safe.

Safeguarding from abuse:
We will make sure you do not suffer from any form of abuse or improper treatment while receiving care. This includes: neglect, degrading treatment, unnecessary or disproportionate restraint, inappropriate limits on your freedom, food and drink.

Food and drink:
We will make sure you have enough to eat and drink to keep you in good health while you receive care and treatment from Kingsway Care.

Complaints:
You must be able to complain about your care and treatment. We have a system in place to handle and respond to your complaint. We must investigate complaints thoroughly and take action if problems are identified.

Good governance:
We have plans in place to ensure we can meet these standards. We have effective governance and systems to check on the quality and safety of the care we are delivering. These help us improve and reduce any risks to your health, safety and welfare.

Duty of candour:
We strive to be open and transparent with you about your care and treatment. Should something go wrong, we will tell you what has happened, provide support and apologise.

Technology at home:
Our aim is to enhance our person-centred care with technology such as sensors and GPS alarms to enable you or your loved one to live independently, healthily and safely at home. Our team will visit to discuss what is available and if it could benefit you. Technology means we can come up with early intervention strategies whilst also allowing CareGivers to do what they do best and deliver exceptional care.

Well-led:
Our leadership, management and governance of the organisation assures the delivery of high-quality person-centred care. We support learning, career growth and innovation and promote an open and fair culture.

We also have a "Caring For Our CareGivers Pledge" which we can share with you. Well trained, respected, rewarded happy CareGivers means better care for our Clients.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We provide an initial phone or video call to understand clients needs and introduce Kingsway Care. We then offer an initial home visit with a complimentary “Kingsway Care Home Safety Assessment”. The second home visit will be to review your agreed plan, with an introduction of proposed CareGiver/s (home care) or Personal Assistant (companionship).

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Kingsway Care is continuing to work hard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, committed to ensuring that our Clients get the support that they need to live well and safely at home. Many of the activities older people once enjoyed have been cancelled, such as lunch clubs and day centres, so they may be more isolated and lonelier than ever before. At Kingsway Care we enable independent living which is focused on individual needs, likes and social connections. Of course we also continue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Care Givers as key workers who deliver this vital care at home.

Gardeners offer a whole host of services. These include the following:

  • Garden maintenance - Gardeners are trained to assist with a whole host of gardening services which include pruning, weeding, planting, feeding, tending to allotments, hedge cutting, hedge trimming, putting up trellises, mulching, laying decorative bark and planting consultation among others.

  • Garden clearance - They can also assist with garden clearance as having a messy garden can really lessen the appeal of your home both to yourself and to visitors. A well-maintained garden can also increase the value of your home.

  • Garden advice - Some companies offer gardening consultation services to advise on suitable new plants and changes that you would implement yourself.

  • Landscaping - landscape gardeners can also offer hard landscaping services such as laying new patios, new decking, new turf for a lawn or building garden buildings such as sheds and bike storage areas.

  • Garden design - Your gardener may also offer garden design services as well as maintenance services.

  • Jet washing - Jet washing can help to immediately improve the appearance of patios and gardens and is offered by many gardening companies.

  • Sourcing and supplying - Your gardener can also source and supply plants, trees, planters and other garden items such as sculptures for your garden.

  • Waste removal - Many firms can also remove huge amounts of waste as part of their services.

  • Benefits - Most gardening companies have a unique selling point and a specific reason to choose them over providers. These could include being a specialist in small gardens, formal gardens and country gardens.

  • Prices - Most gardeners do not offer exact prices on their websites as every garden is so different but they can give you a guideline.
Contact methods - Professional gardening firms would offer several contact methods such as phone number, contact form and email on their website. They would also come back to you quickly to discuss the proposed work.

  • Organisation stamps - Gardening organisation membership can be proof of quality and high standard of work.

  • Training - It is a good idea to ask if the professional has some form of gardening training to give you peace of mind.

  • Read reviews - Take a look at the reviews on Bark or on the company’s website. Third-party reviews will give you a good overview of the company’s customer satisfaction and service quality.

  • Quotation - Most gardening professionals will do quotations as part of their service so you can explain in detail what you want to be done in the garden. The company will be able to give you a price estimate after an onsite visit.

You could look for gardeners with diplomas, associate degrees, bachelor degrees or certificates in horticulture, landscape design or garden design. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is the UK’s leading gardening charity and runs specialist gardening courses for basic and advanced level gardeners.

Before you choose a gardener, you could read testimonials and read details of their services on their website.

You could also use Bark to look at their profile page and gardening reviews from past customers too. This might also help you get some ideas for the gardening service you want to book.
