‘20 Certificate of Excellence

I help you feel the way you wish you felt. I provide a tailored mix of counselling, CBT, coaching techniques and (for face to face clients) physical therapy to help you deal with whatever is worrying you, whether it's an occasional concern or an all-consuming anxiety. Counselling isn't just for people who have experienced trauma. It can benefit anyone who isn't 100% happy with any aspect of their lives, whether that's family, financial, career, relationship or personal aspects. Often issues are centred around the way they were treated by their parents; not often abusive or neglectful parents, but just parents who made mistakes with the best of intentions. I have helped clients find their own solutions to: - long term illness - relationship problems - self-confidence and self-esteem issues - career confusion and stagnation - anger management - depression - anxiety - feeling overwhelmed - feeling unappreciated - abusive relationships and many other issues. I do not give you the answers or tell you what you should do. I help you find the solution to your situation that's right for you, whatever that might be. I offer a free introductory session where we can find out a bit more about each other and what we each bring to and want from a counselling relationship. I am happy to see clients face to face in my clinic in Coleford, Gloucestershire or online. For online clients, recordings of sessions are available so you can revisit discussions later. I also provide physical Bowen therapy alone or, for face to face clients whose emotional issues manifest as physical symptoms (such as headaches, digestive issues or muscle tension), in conjunction with counselling services.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to help other people with their pain, whether physical or emotional. Having suffered with depression and low self-esteem for many years I know how awful it can be in the dark place. There's nothing like seeing someone coming out of that and knowing that my support has made it possible for them.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I like being able to work with clients in the way that feels right for them and for me, rather than the way someone else has decided I should operate. Being self-employed means I have the freedom to modify my approach as needed.

Why should our clients choose you?

It's all about them. I care about them and their success and will treat them with respect and without judgement. My service is not about giving them a solution but helping them find the solution that's right for them, whatever that might be.

My clients can tell me anything and explore any option even if it's something other people might criticise. Clients often say 'It seems silly to feel like this' but they needn't feel silly because their feelings are genuine, regardless of how anyone else might view the same situation.

I am very happy to see clients for a one-off session to deal with something specific or for long term counselling for more deep seated or complex issues.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I prefer to work face to face with my clients, however online counselling is available via Zoom at no extra charge. Clients who work in this way have the option of a recording of the session so they can review it at their leisure.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Mental health services are permitted in groups of up to 15 people under all tiers and lockdown regulations. My clinic is private and there will only ever be me and the client present. I have a minimum of 30 minutes between clients, during which time I sanitise the environment, so you will not meet another client on arrival or departure. I have a detailed risk assessment on my website and provide hand sanitiser for all clients. The chairs are 2m apart and I wear a visor. Alternatively clients can work online via Zoom if they are shielding or subject to travel restrictions.
