Two Boys and a Barrel

East Sussex

Cousins, Harold and Charlie, go by the philosophy that delicious food makes a great party. Using traditional Spanish techniques, we cook up seafood, meat and vegan Paellas. Everything is cooked in one of our enormous Paella pans on the day and at the event. None of our ingredients are processed (except a slash of Sauvignon Blanc) making healthy and hearty paella packed with veg, pork, chicken, tiger prawns, mussels and squid. Throughout the summer we even use our own home grown veg when seasonal. We love a challenge and have had a ball this summer cooking for 18th and 21st parties. However, it was all topped this weekend by a joint Diamond Wedding Anniversary and 90th Birthday. Anything goes! We have our pans at the ready so whether it’s your bonfire celebration, lunch, party or birthday bash give us a bell. We can cater for 40 to 140 and are already taking bookings for next summer. We are based in East Sussex near Brighton but are happy to travel across the south of England. We look forward to cooking for you. Lots of love, Two Boys and a Barrel (Harold and Charlie)

What’s your signature dish?

We recommend our favourite The Signature Paella which we have done at most of our events so far! It always gets a great reception and visually it is a bit of a show piece as well as tasting delicious. The Signature - Tiger Prawns, Mussels, Squid, Chicken, Pork and Chorizo.

What do you love most about your job?

The cooking and talking to our guests. Cooking takes 2 hours start to finish and is a spectacle in itself. Rather than the cooking taking place tucked away only to be revealed when it’s time to eat we prefer to keep our guests entertained throughout the process. With our core ingredients on display we are happy to chat and talk about what we are doing as the smells, colours and flavours evolve from Sofrito to Paella.

Why should our clients choose you?

We do this job because we love great food. The proof is in the pudding. Or in this case the paella. In honesty we would love it if you choose us by trying our food. Most of our bookings come from people who have tasted us at an event and want us at theres. Of course this is the best way to choose someone but chances are you havnt had our food yet.

Ultimatly the loverly thing about good food is that there is so much choice. We love eating all sorts of food but for a party or wedding paella really can't be beat. It is the perfect social food around which parties have been based for centuarys in spain. Paella done well is a real treat we cook in a stlye that is number one deliciouse but also a very wholesome and healthy dish.

Catering FAQs

Expand all

Your expert caterer will be able to advise you on the most suitable menus and service.

It is important to know the following before deciding on a catering company:

  • Event Specialists - Many caterers handle certain types of events on a regular basis, such as weddings and corporate events.

  • Different cuisines - Caterers might specialise in different kinds of cuisine. Some caterers may provide a fine dining experience while others excel at barbecues that suit company picnics.

  • Special requirements - If you have special requirements for the food or a specific menu in mind make sure your caterer is happy to meet those requirements.

  • Venue - Your gathering might be taking place at someone’s home, a venue or outdoors. It can be helpful if your caterer has worked at the venue before.

  • Tastings - Ask for a tasting to make sure the food is of a high standard. Most caterers will prepare one for you at no charge, allowing you to assess the quality of their cooking before you hire them.

You could look for caterers with a foundation degree, higher national diploma or degree in Professional Cookery and Culinary Arts.

Before you choose a caterer, you could read testimonials and see pictures of their food on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and read reviews from past customers, too.
