DISAPPOINTINGIn 2020, I had an Orangery installed by RT.Quite recently, on a Saturday, a stone from my lawn mower broke a sealed unit. I rang RT first thing on the following Monday and requested a quotation for a replacement.By Friday, I had no reply. When I rang again (on that Friday), they had no record of my call from the previous Monday! They did however, ring back later that day and quoted £480 (plus/minus £10) with an installation in FOUR WEEKS!!.I was surprised at the cost and I rang two other companies The one I chose (from Poole) was £140 cheaper and installed the replacement sealed unit within 7 working days from my order.I was surprised that, being an existing customer, they were trying to overcharge me by a considerable amount – and the Orangery still leaks, but I have given up trying to have that corrected. Our lean-to polycarbonate utility room roof had failed after 25 years and has just been replaced with an Ultraframe Livin roof system installed by Richard Thomas. At time of ordering, Ben Slater was able to provide a cost per Sq Meter, which was very helpful in deciding, designing and budgeting. Ben Shepherd is the perfect, cool, calm & collected project manager and all associated trades people involved have been top quality. Using the Ultra roof system (instead of traditional roof) proved more affordable with little compromise. The vaulted ceilings with no glazing (or just a couple of panels in huge room) are wonderful. It looks as though the project will finish on schedule and with no nasty unforeseen 'extras' , we wouldn't hesitate to recommend. More...

Richard Thomas installed a living roof on our conservatory, which had been badly installed by a less than reputable company in the past. Should have used RT in the first place.! Excellent service by RT, from the initial visit by Ben Slater, then a thorough survey by surveyor, and installation by Scott and Karl, Kept up to date by Project Manager Kevin, communication good from all involved, small snag after installation, but was dealt immediately by company, reassured prompt after sales service and warranty should we ever need it We would recommend Richard Thomas, Well established and very reputable local company More...

This company is outstanding. We were referred to them by an ex-employee, which is a good sign in itself. The orangery itself is excellent but we could have sourced the same one elsewhere. The difference is their people - their staff and sub-contractors were all brilliant - experts in their individual trades. We had no idea, for example, that there are people who just install lead flashings into brickwork for a living or who lay screed flooring.The whole project took 8 weeks including the XMAS break and they were only 2 days late, due to bad weather. Really excellent work from this company. Deigned, obtained Planning Consent and built a large kitchen extension in West Dorset. Difficult Planning restrictions, difficult access, long distance from home base and difficult work in a Purbeck stone house in a conservation area, but this company coped well with all of it. We have received excellent service from Richard Thomas from start to finish and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They completely refurbished, re-framed and re-roofed a large problem conservatory with a significant leak. We have been left with an exceptional, useable space that we couldn't be happier with. Richard Thomas were excellent from start to finish, Ben Slater explained what the options were and it was good to have clear timelines agreed which were all kept to, even taking into account atrocious weather. Ben Shepherd was always available as project manager and when there were questions or things to be changed he was always flexible and helpful but also realistic as to what was possible, ie not promising anything they couldn't deliver. The tradespeople used were all top notch to the extent we have used them ourselves for other smaller requirements since. We are very impressed with Richard Thomas and highly recommend their services. We love our open plan space following a single storey extension with the ultra roof system and removal of an interior wall. We were impressed with how tidy the site remained throughout the building work, staff and contractors were very respectful, polite and punctual. Ben our Project Manager kept us informed of timescales and was quick to respond to any queries we had. The contractors were working daily and the project pushed on without any gaps in the schedule, the timescale was adhered to. Wow. We have recently had a beautiful new conservatory built by Richard Thomas Windows and Conservatorys. From the first contact to get a quote to the end product all I can express is WOW WOW WOW. Everyone that was involved with the project was awesome. Ben came to give us the quote and made us feel so at ease that we decided to go ahead. Stewart and Niel worked so hard in the rain installing the structure and it looks superb. Kevin was the project manager and kept us updated all the way through. We chose RTC based on the reviews that they had received from previous clients, and also their locality. The reviews turned out to be very accurate. From the initial consultation to the finished Orangery all the different trades people involved have been courteous, tidy and importantly intent on doing a good job. We are very pleased with our new room and hope to be able to use it all year round, unlike our old dilapidated conservatory which RTC demolished and removed.
