Well Chris, your inappropriate and defamatory reply further shows your character. We have taken offence at tour statements attacking our personal lives and will be dealing with this, separately and through the appropriate channels, once we receive relevant advice.

We emailed you on 21st December 2021 with a long list of concerns and more than 20 photos showing the issues we found after you were last in our house. You replied to our email acknowledging our concerns and said that you would come back to put things right.
We have since emailed you, texted you, left voicemails on your mobile phone - we even wrote to you via Bark.com - our message still shows on your profile account - in actual fact, we managed to get you back to the house on Monday 16th May 2021, after we emailed you about a newly found issue regarding a toilet in an existing en-suite bathroom. We informed you that we had called in a Plumber and on the advice of the Plumber, a Drains Company to assess the issue and that both were of the opinion that the issue arose as a result of your work (when using the existing waste pipe work to connect to the new en-suite toilet). We gave you the opportunity to see about the issue yourself before appointing someone else to resolve it. When you came that day you agreed to return the following week to take the toilet apart and investigate what was the problem, as well as to finish your job and remedy the long list of outstanding issues. That was the last time we saw you/heard from you.

We recently asked Bark.com for help but they wrote and we quote ‘Hiring a professional you meet through Bark is much like hiring a professional through Google or a newspaper advert. We do not vet the professionals who use Bark and we do not vouch for any professional ourselves, however we do operate a reviews system which helps customers make an informed decision about who they hire’.
This is what prompted us to write our review.

You were unprofessional - didn’t finish the job for which you were paid, caused damages to our property, ignored our messages and didn’t fulfil your promises. We were inexperienced and trusting and you took advantage. We gave in to your regular demands for money and paid you a total of £10,956 instead of withholding further payments until completion of the work, as per your original terms and conditions. Each one of our payments were made by BACs directly into your bank account and are therefore fully documented.

To put matters further into perspective, we have since had three independent, well known and reputable companies based here in Cheltenham, assessing and quoting to carry out the several jobs required to finish, correct and remedy the issues caused by you; the quotes amount £4,500 excluding the plumbing jobs for which we are awaiting a final quote.

We stand by each and every statement
contained in our review (a short summary of what we are dealing with), as correct and truthful and for which we have irrefutable written and visual evidence.

We believe we have been fair to you by allowing you 12 months to finish, correct and remedy the issues you caused. It is terribly frustrating that after ignoring us for so long you finally resurface on the back of our truthful and honest review. Awful experience. Chris didn’t complete the various jobs on time (after 3 weeks he would only work between 10 and 1 pm or less) and the finishes of what he did were just well below standards. He was due to return after Christmas; we had to postpone the date he gave us after which he never returned. We paid 95% of his fees and he left us with an unfinished en-suite bathroom, a cheap pine wood door instead of the oak door included in his quote (to match the other doors in the room/house), unfinished bedroom decoration, a loose carpet (which he removed and never fitted back) and damages to flooring, ceilings and walls caused by a massive water leak after he accidentally unplugged one of the water pipes he was using to feed the basin in the new en-suite. After waiting for a year to get him to come back to us (he stopped responding to phone calls, messages and emails), we have had to incur additional cost to finish the job and repair the damages caused by extremely poor craftsmanship (the tiles on the walls of the en-suite were uneven, the grouting had multiple gaps/holes, a new door could not be fitted as the frame was uneven and had to be redone, the silicon had to be removed and reaplied everywhere in the en-suite, the new Karndean flooring was damaged with paint) - an absolute botched job.
He also boarded our loft and fitted a new ladder … the flooring is unfinished and creates dust and fine sand debris every time we use it and the ladder was wrongly fitted which rendered it unsafe. We have photos to show every single statement made here. More...

I find your comments very untrue you seamed to have missed the part of your story we’re you rang me just before my arranged date to return to tell me you had left your partner and moved out as you found out he was cheating on you and I was not needed to finish the job and as for ignoring your calls and emails ?? You have never contacted me since your departure from the address.

Absolutely appalling customer service. Let down the night before works were about to start after being chased for a response. Knew well in advance that he wouldn’t be able to start the works. Was assured he would ring us the next day but had to be chased after he had changed his contact number. His response was completely nonchalant. Then to add injury to insult he had to be chased for a week to get the £400 deposit and cost of a skip returned. AVOID!! More...

Chris has recently refitted our bathroom, he did a really good job and we are delighted with it. Would recommend.

Quick response. Did a good job and dealt with any problems promptly and with good humour. Shower room is much improved and looks the part.

Chris fitted my kitchen and did a great job. He was efficient and quick and I’m so pleased with the finished product. He was very helpful and offered great solutions to problems we came across and the kitchen now looks even better than the design he was given. Amazing job!

Chris Phillips has just done a refurbishment in my bathroom.

I am extremely pleased with his work which wasn't easy as a small bathroom with difficult problems to resolve.

Chris is very professional and knowledgeable about his job.

After I had explained what I wanted, he suggested various options for me to choose from according to my needs, and budget.

I left him on his own to get on with the job and now have a "dream bathroom" which has exceeded all my expectations.
