Laura Hughes Therapies

Hi, I'm Laura, and I'm a holistic creative therapist based in Droitwich Spa. I'm an experienced counsellor with over 10 years experience of supporting people with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, and life events. I work primarily with a person-centred approach, to help you unravel all that has been knotted up inside, and I provide a safe space to help you peel back the layers so that you can begin to reflect, explore, understand and find new healthy ways to cope with what you have experienced. I often bring in concepts and ideas from other approaches, including CBT, as and when it is appropriate for each individual client, to give you the help you need, making this a tailored approach to whatever issues you may be facing.

What do you love most about your job?

I love helping people to feel more in control of their lives and sense of self. Very often people approach me at a point where whatever they are dealing with has become overwhelming. It is a privilege to be able to provide a safe therapeutic relationship for people to shed and share some of what they have been carrying, and to begin to feel like they are 'back in the driving seat.'

Why should our clients choose you?

I think it's important to take your time and meet with a few different therapists before you commit to counselling, which is why I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting. See how you feel with your potential counsellor first. I know I am not everyone's cup of tea, and I do not know everything! And counselling is not for everyone, either. It is not a cure-all. That said, counselling can be very healing, and I have had good feedback from my clients over the 10 years I have been in private practice.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I provide counselling both in-person, and remotely via telephone and online/video. Remote sessions tend to take place from late morning to early afternoon (10am-3pm), Monday to Friday, where availability allows. In-person sessions take place Tuesday to Friday, 1pm-8pm (inclusive).
