Face-to-face and online appointments available for help with anxiety & stress, depression, IBS, anger management, sleep issues, overcoming phobias, weight management, building confidence and stopping smoking or drinking. Appointments are offered face to face in my comfortable and calm rooms in Skipton and Nelson. Both locations allow us to observe a 2 metres distance (or even more) throughout the session. I always use a face mask and appreciate if you can do the same, although I do realise this isn't always possible. Hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities are available. Alternatively, an increasingly popular option, sessions can also be taken on-line via Zoom. Online sessions are just as effective and have the advantage of greater flexibility as you can access your session from anywhere. I can also be more flexible on times for online sessions as they don't depend on my physical location either. I am a Solution Focused Therapist, which means we don't need to spend a lot of time going over past events or trauma. You don't even need to really know what's wrong, only that you don't feel "right" and you're ready to move forwards to something new and better. We use proven gentle and positive techniques to help you make the changes that are right for you. Daytime and evening appointments available. For pricing please go to the "Services" tab and click on the service you are interested in. I am fully qualified, insured and DBS checked - happy to be asked about my qualifications, experience or how this type of therapy works. Skipton, North Yorkshire - easily accessed from Keighley, Ilkley, Otley, Earby, Barnoldswick, Settle, Bradford, Bingley, Shipley, Grassington. A pleasant town centre location with easy nearby car parking and within walking distance of the train station. Nelson, Lancashire - easily accessed from Colne, Burnley, Blackburn, Barnoldswick, Brierfield, Pendle. Free on-street parking.

What do you love most about your job?

I'm happy to be in a position to help people who want or need to make a positive change in their lives. The greatest reward is watching the improvement take place week on week, and hearing my clients describe how different they feel after just a few weeks of working together.

Why should our clients choose you?

Having relied on Solution Focused Therapy techniques myself in the past I have first hand experience of the power of this type of therapy. No therapist can ever walk in the shoes of their client (and neither should they try), but equally my own experience means that I do have personal insight and understanding of the challenges that our amazing, complex and sometimes tricky brains can present us with. I also know how wonderful it is to start to feel better.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, research has shown that this therapy is just as effective when delivered online or even via the phone.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Online sessions are now routinely available. Where a face to face session is essential risks are assessed in detail on an individual basis. Appointments are well spaced to allow time for thorough cleaning and ventilation of the room. A minimum of 2 metres distance is maintained throughout the session and face masks are worn. Hand washing and hand sanitising is available.

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
