We rescued our two dogs Monty and Rocket last year, they were completely uncontrollable on the lead, they would pull, bark and lunge at other dogs.
We met Manny for the intial consultation and decided to go ahead with Heel and Leash reactivity training. After 10 weeks training with Manny using E-Collars (which we have always been against) our dogs have completely transformed! We cannot believe how easy and quick the fix was to entirely change their approach and behaviour when outdoors. Walks are now enjoyable and stress free!
We highly recommend Manny, he is knowledgeable and reliable! We will forever be grateful to Manny and his two four legged companions who also helped in the process.
Thank you again Manny, Martin & Neave & Monty & Rocket.

Before working with Milena we had worked with another dog behaviourist who insisted that she could work with us on a purely online basis. It was never going to work (it didn’t!). And working with Milena, and seeing how committed she was to getting to know every personality trait of our Sproodle, Scout , just highlights how important a lot of face to face time is. Scout was very complex and had a lot of issues - including boisterousness and fear/anxiety. It resulted in random and unpredictable bursts of aggression. Since working with Milena, Scout is calmer, more loving, and the whole family is confident and comfortable around her. We no longer fear her suddenly snapping. And it feels like she has a better understanding of us and vice versa. Thank you Milena for your tenacity and perseverance!

So happy I found Surrey Dog School. All the team couldn’t be more helpful & so friendly. They make every training tip feel like common sense & fun for your dog. Our puppy has learnt so much through our pre puppy sessions, private 1 on 1 & now group lessons on zoom. As a family we are all benefiting from these & look forward to them each week. It has definitely helped us having such support through our puppies first few months & we will continue our relationship with all the team for many years ahead. Thank you to you all. You’re amazing!!

My family had heard of Aftab from a friend. We had tried for 2 years and used another trainer in Stuttgart who had failed to cure our German Shepherd of lots of problems including his fear of scateboards, and aggression towards other dogs, pulling on the lead and excessive barking. Aftab came to us and saw us and 3 other dog owners with dog behaviour problems as well. It was amazing to see Aftab work and within a week of his visit and teaching us what and how to act to help or dog jimi's behaviour was much improved. 3 months since our consultation now and we are so happy with the results. Everything is all well again and we have a lovable dog again who we enjoy walking again.

Royvon is a family business, established in 1959 in Merthyr Tydfil by Roy and Yvonne. Their son Darren grew up around dogs and started his dog training practice skills on the dogs that came to stay for boarding, to the delight of customers who saw their dogs progress quickly. Darren took over the family business at 16, developing the kennel services at Royvon into a Board and Train programme to help dogs of all breeds and personalities to live a happy, confident life.

Hi Darren, it’s Rachel here - Frankie’s owner. I just wanted to reach out and thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart for all that you and your simply fabulous team at Royvon have done for Frankie and in turn for me and my partner during this unthinkable situation where my partner was seriously injured in an accident in France and we were unable to return to the UK as planned. Knowing that Frankie was being cared for so expertly and so compassionately was a huge weight off my mind during the most difficult time of my life. Thank you for making everything so easy, for liaising with my friends when I felt too overwhelmed to get in contact and for making it possible for friends to pick Frankie up on our behalf. Please could you pass on my heartfelt thanks to all your incredible staff, for caring for Frankie so incredibly and for all the wonderful, uplifting updates & photos I received each day. I am leaving you a 100 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you again. I will never, ever forget what you have done for us…. and we have definitely found the most wonderful people to look after our beloved beagle Frankie for every future occasion 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lauren came to see me and my Wheaten (Harry) yesterday afternoon and we made great progress. Harry and I have a few issues we need to address, and I'm happy to report that today he responded so well : my youngest daughter was able to walk Harry to school this morning (something she hasn't been able to do in months as he pulls on the lead ... not any more)! I was even amazed that he didn't bark at the postman this morning! We still have a way to go, but I'm super impressed by Lauren's training techniques and straight-talking. Harry and I can't wait for our next session and I have no hesitation in recommending Lauren to anyone who needs help with their canine friends.

About Me! Hi, I’m Maria, the founder of The Compassionate Canine. I’m a qualified trainer with the IMDT and a reactive dog specialist (DTC certified) who is dedicated to helping owners and their dogs build stronger, more positive relationships. My training approach is rooted in modern, science-backed, force-free methods, ensuring your dog learns in a way that is both effective and ethical. I have a degree in human psychology (2:1, University of Liverpool), which gives me a deep understanding of how behavior is shaped by emotions, learning experiences, and the environment. Originally, I planned to become a clinical psychologist, but my lifelong love for animals led me to combine my knowledge of behaviour with my passion for dogs—helping both owners and their four-legged companions overcome challenges together. I am commited to always learning, and I am currently completeling my level 5 in canine behaviour with the college of canine science. Allowing me to offer even more specialiSed support for behavioural cases. However, if you’re keen to work together, I’d still love to hear from you! You can reach me directly via my website or email: https://linktr.ee/thecompassionatecanine. I primarily work in person within a 35-minute travel radius of the New Forest because I believe in training dogs in their own environment—where they feel most comfortable and where behavioural challenges typically arise. This ensures training is as effective and relevant as possible. If you’re outside this area, I’m still happy to help! However, I’d recommend a combination of online sessions and in-person visits to make the most of our time together. Prices may vary for clients further afield. The most rewarding part of my job is helping owners truly understand their dogs—watching that moment when everything clicks, and they see their dog’s behaviour in a new light. Seeing the relief and confidence grow in both the dog and their owner as they learn to communicate effectively is incredibly fulfilling.
I love working with reactive or anxious dogs and showing their owners that, with patience and the right approach, their dog can thrive. Helping a dog go from overwhelmed and frustrated to calm and engaged is an amazing transformation to be a part of.
Every dog is unique, and no two cases are ever the same. I enjoy problem-solving, tailoring my training to each individual, and continuously learning to provide the best possible support. Ultimately, my passion lies in strengthening the bond between dogs and their humans, creating happier, more harmonious lives for both. 🐾✨
The inspiration to start my own business came from my own experience with a rescue dog who struggled to adjust to family life. Watching him battle with fear and prey drive, I knew I had to help him have a better quality of life—one not completely dictated by his fears. This journey sparked my passion for dog training, and the more I learned, the more I became fascinated with the science behind it.
After working in pet care for a London-based company, I realized how much I loved canine care and combined this with my background in psychology to deepen my understanding of animal behavior. Training dogs became not just a passion but a calling. The most rewarding part of my work is helping dogs overcome their challenges and see them begin to truly enjoy life—whether it's going for a walk, meeting new people, or simply feeling more relaxed at home.
This journey led me to The Compassionate Canine, where I could use my expertise to help other dogs and their owners build stronger, more positive relationships. I’m driven by the belief that every dog deserves the chance to live a happy, fulfilling life, and I want to make that a reality for as many dogs and families as possible. 🐾
Clients should choose me because I am genuinely empathetic and flexible, allowing me to fully understand your unique needs and tailor my approach to meet them. I believe in building a strong, trust-based relationship with both you and your dog, so you can feel confident that we’re working together towards a common goal.
My priority is to ensure you get the most out of our time together, which is why I pride myself on being accessible and responsive. I’m always here to offer guidance and support, whether it’s during a session or in between, to make sure any challenges that arise are addressed promptly and effectively.
I understand how important it is to feel supported throughout the training process, and I’m committed to providing a personalized, flexible approach that helps you and your dog overcome hurdles and build a stronger, more positive bond. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares and will work closely with you every step of the way, I’m here to help. 🐾
Yes, I do offer online and remote services, which can be an excellent option if you're unable to meet in person or if you're located outside of my 35-minute travel radius.
Online sessions are perfect for those who need guidance on behavioral issues, training tips, or general advice. These sessions are conducted via video call, allowing us to work through challenges together in real-time, while I provide you with tailored support and solutions.
For clients further afield or with busy schedules, remote sessions are a flexible and convenient way to continue progress without the need for in-person meetings. Whether it’s helping you work through reactivity, basic obedience, or any other behavioral issue, online sessions are an effective way to support you and your dog’s training journey.
In addition to video consultations, I provide notes, resources, and follow-up support to ensure that you can continue your dog’s progress between sessions.
Feel free to reach out to discuss the best option for you and your dog! 🐾
