How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Most loft spaces now have the ability to be transformed given the new products availible that we use to strengthen existing roofs and remove load from the existing structure.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
We remove rows of tiles front and back and feed in new floor joists. From these we create a new structure to take the load of the roof. We can then remove the original roof timbers to create a large open space. We then add insulation, create new walls if needed and plasterboard. Electrics and plumbing are done and when the majority of the messy jobs are done we will create the new stairwell and fit the stairs.
How long have you been in business?
Over 40 years, started with bricklaying after leaving school and then started on my own. Ive done small extensions to private estates of 4-6 houses and everything invetween.
What guarantee does your work come with?
When we do new build homes they come with an NHBC guarantee that lasts 10 years.
What do you love most about your job?
The transformation we make and the reactions from happy customers.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It was a natural progression from working for somebody to learn the trade then going it alone.
