How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
An Architect/ surveyor would be able to advise on this, but the foundations walls and roof will need to be checked to make sure they are structurally sound.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
If you are changing the look or height of the garage then planning may be needed., along with building regulations to provide the client and builder the specification of the job.
some times a structural engineer will need to be involved to determine foundations and any load bearing walls that are going to be knocked through.
The floor will need a DPM , walls and ceiling will need to be insulated and breathable felt/ vapour barrier to meet regs, some walls may need sound proof if against a neighbour's property.
The building inspector will need to see foundations, damp, insulation, structural work, completion with electrical certificates and gas certificates on work altered or added to the project.

I have been in the building game since i left school, i worked for a company called Cadmans where i did an apprenticeship and became a qualified bricklayer. i then moved on to starting my own company as a general builder which has now evolved into Purrell construction, where i now run the jobs with my team using highly skilled trades. I have been in the building game for around 17years.

make sure tests are carried out if anyone is feeling unwell, and also make sure the client lets us know if they are unwell prior to commencing work at the property.
