How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Hello regarding a garage Renovation. First of all the boiler and any heating system has to took out of the existing garage. For all building control regulations the floor and walls will have to be insulated and a plan would be submitted to Building control take sure all works are carried out to there regulations.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Removal of heating system if there's boiler etc in existing garage.
Floor as to be insulated and raised.
Walls have to be insulated if there is no cavity insulation in the existing garage.
Heating needs to be put into garage radiators etc.
Ceiling needs to be insulated and smoke alarm and heat detector installed by Electrican.
Windows fitted were necessary.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Floor joist has to be made rite or changed to make sure the load passes regulations.
Head height restrictions need to be checked regarding head height and if any roof windows are being cut and and rafters would need beefed up if necessary.
Steel works mite need to be fitted to carry any purlins or any structural work and work to a structural engineer report provided.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Joist needs beefed up if not suitable .
Steep works needs fitted if necessary.
Stairs cut into loft.
Rafters mite need beefed up and air flow cap needed and any roof windows cut in
Insulation needs fitted to floor and roof areas.
New electrics, plumbing etc.
