We had an appalling experience with Jack as our builder. What was supposed to be a “straightforward” 3-month project turned into an 18-month nightmare, forcing us to take legal action to seek compensation.
Jack received full payment for the project, yet left us with an unfinished, subpar build and now costs far beyond what we initially budgeted to have it completed by someone else.
Jack is unqualified for the work he claims expertise in. For example, despite his repeated attempts to fix our roof, it continued to leak, leaving us to hire another builder at an additional £10,000 to redo it properly. It took that builder only a week to achieve what Jack failed to do over many months.
We're out thousands of pounds for work and materials that were neither delivered nor completed, and we’re now forced to pay another contractor to finish the job. Throughout this ordeal, Jack has refused any compromise or resolution, ignoring ethical standards and showing no regard for professional conduct. His handling of funds and inability to manage a large-scale project reflect his inexperience and lack of moral responsibility.
If you're looking for a reliable builder who will deliver quality work on time and within budget, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Jack took advantage of our trust and patience, and the results have been devastating. Avoid this builder at all costs.

thanks for taking the time to leave us this review here at j cleary construction ltd we take things like this very seriously so firstly i would just like to apologise for the bad experience you have had using my company i tried to expand my buisiness by running two of these massive projects at the same time unfortunately this meant i wasn’t there all the time and had to rely on other people doing some work for me it didn’t help that this job was massively underpriced due to my own doing i completely underestimated the scale of some of the works and i completely hold my hands up to this this is why the timings started slipping. i put over 10 thousand of my own money in to this to get the job done and it was completely done other than the render outside however we never got a chance to finish this. we did have a small roof leek which we was in the process of elimination of sorting however found myself in a very difficult situation as had no money left myself to even cover my own bills so was doing extra work to raise some money to come back and finish the 1st job an that’s why it took us this long so can fully understand why you asked us to leave and got someone else in to finish again i would just like to apologise for this all materials was however delivered to the job tho so im not sure what that’s about the only thing that wasn’t done was the outside rendering of 2 walls everything else was fully completed on the big project. i have however learned a massive lesson from this and have decided to stay to smaller manageable projects when i can be around constantly to make sure this would never happen again you only have to read our 40+ 5 star reviews to see this was a genuine mistake from myself
