this weekend my two girls passed the yellow belt grading. first experience for us as parents and seeing how much they have grown in confidence, strength and skill already was overwhelming. we were so grateful to all the sensi team for the knowledge and skills they had shared. I highly recommend GKR Karate in Melton. They have been extremely helpful and respectful and have great sensei's. My son that's 12yrs old started a little over a month ago and is now a yellow belt. My daughter started this month and both my children absolutely love it. Very friendly people that go there and I havnt had a problem at all. My son had ASD and ADHD and the sensei takes his time with him to show him the correct moves and helps him every step of the way; its fantastic to see this as most places don't care enough to do that. I joined GKR in August 2023. Tarneit GKR Dojo is run by Exceptionally dedicated Sensei Luke & Ryan. I'd highly recommend joining GKR to learn traditional Karate.

My daughter aged 8 joined GKR back in July 2022 and has loved it ever since. Back in Jan 23, having turned 39 i decided i wanted to give it a try and i joined in march. My son (8yo) showed interest when we walked past a GKR stand in a shopping centre so decided to take up the free class offer. Everyone was so welcoming. Since he has started, his discipline and concentration at school has significantly improved and this reflected in his latest school report being the best one he has had yet! He thoroughly enjoys the days that he trains and especially loves Sensei Rewa from Hillcrest dojo. My son has recently completed his first grading from white belt to yellow and I am so proud of him. All the black belts that were there on the day were amazing in calming nerves and helping the white belts progress to the next level. Its like one big family. We came to GKR karate in search of an activity to help our son because we are very passionate about self-defence and building esteem. GKR Karate has done much more it has given him confidence, discipline and focus (for 6 years old pretty good). I can honestly say that this is hands down the best thing I have ever invested in for my son. He is more confident, happier and doing better in school. Sensies are very supportive, and professional and interact well with kids of all ages. Signed my daughter up, gave my card details for membership and gave bank details for the fortnightly debits. They used my card instead which then left me with late fees as it was 2 different accounts. I payed manually until it was sorted. Told them fortnightly on a certain day. That day came and it wasn’t taken out… and when they did they tried to take $90 instead of the 45. When I spoke to them someone was quite rude saying I should fix it. I demanded the member ship fee back as it was an ongoing issue but Ofcourse they couldn’t do that. As I wanted to take my daughter else where. Finally apparently got it sorted and I was sent a bill for over $100 to be told there the late fees even though it was there fault for not putting in the right details!!! I decided then to take my daughter out as they just scan your money and refuse the refund for the member ship fee. She went to 2 classes!! Due to there stuff up. started my karate journey in 2005 when someone knocked on the front door, spoke to a consultant about karate and with the goal of improving my fitness and learn some self defence. Joined the instructor program in 2010 then graded to Shodan Ho in June 2011. Fast forward to 2023, teach 6 classes a week, talk to new people about joining our wonderful club and training hard for my Yondan this year. My son has been attending the local Dojos since November and his confidence has grown so much. He barely made it to halfway through his first lesson, constantly crying because he didn't want to do it by himself. He got his yellow belt in February. We started our 5 year old a few months ago. He has ASD and ADHD so can be a bit of a handful but his sensei and his other instructors have been nothing short of incredible with him. They are kind, caring and patient and make sure he gets the most out of each class even when his attention drifts they give him gentle reminders. He had his grading on the weekend, we were a bit nervous how he would go as it was a new place with different instructors but the sensei who ran the grading was AMAZING with the kids and my little man loved it!
