‘19 Certificate of Excellence

Hello and welcome to Kung Fu Schools Horsham! How would you like your child to be more disciplined? What about having better concentration at school? Or better behaviour at home? Would you like them to have the confidence to stand up for themselves against bullies? Learning Kung Fu is an excellent way to foster discipline and mental focus in children. Martial arts can also build character as well as confidence and your child will have fun while developing both physically and mentally. Martial arts is about so much more than learning how to kick and punch. At Kung Fu Schools, we understand this, and as such, we place equal emphases on the physical aspects as well as the inner teachings of Chinese kung fu: the cultivation of sound mind, body and spirit. Apart from teaching effective self-defence, our class structure builds a strong foundation of discipline and mutual respect. Our lessons instill important life lessons that will stay with students throughout their lives: courtesy, respect, discipline, patience, perseverance, tolerance towards others… Our positive and upbeat lessons aim to teach children not only the ABC’s of self-defence, but also the ABC’s of life: Attitude, Behaviour and Character. LITTLE DRAGONS: Our Little Dragons classes are for children aged 4 to 7. These classes are excellent for introducing your child to Kung Fu. The classes are fun packed, high energy and are tailored to help each child concentrate, focus and bring out the best in themselves. JUNIORS: Our Junior classes are for children aged between 8 and 12. Whilst maintaining the energy and enthusiasm of the younger classes, we aim to introduce the children to being responsible martial artists. These classes work on refining the children’s Kung Fu skills and also see the introduction of partnering and drill work. Classes are also designed to help deal with issues that they may be facing such as bullying, self-confidence and discipline. ADULTS: We pride ourselves on ensuring that our adult classes are friendly and give people through all stages of life the opportunity to thrive. Each class is run so that you can participate at a pace that suits you. Our classes are non-competitive, and focus on development of skill, body awareness, and self-confidence. With a family like atmosphere, all members of the school love to encourage each other and show support and enthusiasm to fellow Kung Fu students through their journey together. Lots of our students have experienced the benefits of learning Kung Fu not just by developing their self-defence skills but have also found it has increased their self-confidence, helped with fitness levels and stress-relief. We’d love to see you in our classes, why not come along for a 4 week FREE trial so that you can try the benefits for yourself…

What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing the my students become the person they have always wanted to be. When a timid child becomes the loudest in the class. When the shyest students overcome a fear that has held them back, and is now auditioning for the main role in their school play, or making speeches to a group at work. I love hearing what my students have been up to and giving them rewards in our classes for things they have done outside of our school. I love seeing the passion that is develop learning martial arts, and then seeing then really develop their skill. My job is simply the best job you could have.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Quite simply martial arts. I enjoy Kung Fu so much that when the school I train at asked me to help out in a few classes I got the bug. I then wanted to run my own classes, timing was on my side as the school was running out a franchise program at the time and I was the first to jump for it.

Why should our clients choose you?

There is lots of reasons why that we could list, but simply we are passionate about teaching, we are run by a big organisation with over 30 years martial arts experience and teaching, the only one in England to be backed by the Confucius institute. We care for what we teach. We teach discipline, respect and understanding rather than just kicking and hitting pads. We reward the children for good behaviour and achievements. Quite simply we care in what we do, and for all of our students.
