Signing up for martial arts classes is a great idea for everyone as this will not only help you get fit but also teach you how to defend yourself in case of an emergency. There are plenty of self-defense tools today, but your body is the only one you can rely on in any situation. Therefore, everyone should know how to use it to effectively disable an attacker. Training in any kind of martial arts will increase your strength and stamina and improve your general health greatly.
With martial arts classes you will be able to learn a great number of martial arts. The most popular classes are jiu jitsu, taekwondo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, kung fu, capoeira, kendo, muai thai, and tai chi. Each of these martial arts has its specific strengths, so you’ll need to do a bit of research to decide which class suits you best. Consult a professional martial arts trainer and your doctor to make the right decision.
Bark can put you in touch with suppliers offering a variety of mixed martial arts classes and specialized self-defense courses. You can try these groups if you don’t want to focus on a single type of martial arts. Mixed classes are extremely versatile, so you’ll need to talk to each trainer individually to find out their approach.
Martial arts classes are great, but you can enhance your physical training by complementing them with other types of exercise. Bark can help you find swimming and yoga classes as well as personal trainers who can develop a personalized training and nutrition program that will allow you to achieve your fitness goals.

Defence Lab is not a combative sport where you have limiting rules to follow or a referee to come running to your aid. That's just not how it works on the street and in real-life scenarios when you may need to genuinely defend yourself or your loved ones from 'real' attackers. In real-life, there are no rules and there is no referee so why train and prepare yourself in any other way?
If your aim is to compete then by all means, go for a combative sport and train and adhere to the rules of that sport. But if your aim is to learn how to 'effectively' defend yourself against real attacks then you must train specifically for those situations and they are very different to the ring or in a competition setting.
Simply put, like all things in life, you will react in a specific scenario the way in which you trained for that scenario. The same applies when it comes to self defence because you have conditioned yourself to react in a certain manner. Now if your training includes a referee, or rules to go by or does not include defending at all four levels i.e. standing, kneeling, sitting or lying down or even against multiple attackers, then you're already at a significant disadvantage against a real attack.
At Defence Lab Training we teach a no-nonsense self-defence system designed purely for the street & real-life scenarios. A new phenomenon that is truly going global, it is an 'evolution' within the world of martial arts like never seen before and has even been recognised and adopted by Hollywood and A-list celebrities in films such as the ‘Batman’ movies with Christian Bale, ‘Jack Reacher’ with Tom Cruise and the ‘Taken’ movies with Liam Neeson to name a few.

There is no greater satisfaction than to see the many great positive changes within our students from our training. The confidence and self belief that each student experiences, the 'life-skills' they learn, the close bonds of friendship they develop and just the overall fun they have whilst learning this incredible new Self Defence system.
However, the greatest satisfaction by far is when a student or the parent of a student tell me how the training actually helped them in a confrontation.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been learning martial arts since the age of 11 and have studied various styles and arts. However, I was never truly satisfied with any of the styles as I was always looking for something which genuinely catered for real life street defence. It is only when I came across Defence Lab that I finally found what I was looking for and something which I could wholeheartedly believe in and therefore teach others. It is then that I left my previous business and became a full-time Defence Lab Instructor.
Why should our clients choose you?
There is literally nothing out there like Defence Lab. What we teach and the way we teach is very different to what is normally out there. But don't take our word for it, come and have a FREE taster session and see for yourself!
