Signing up for martial arts classes is a great idea for everyone as this will not only help you get fit but also teach you how to defend yourself in case of an emergency. There are plenty of self-defense tools today, but your body is the only one you can rely on in any situation. Therefore, everyone should know how to use it to effectively disable an attacker. Training in any kind of martial arts will increase your strength and stamina and improve your general health greatly.
  • With martial arts classes you will be able to learn a great number of martial arts. The most popular classes are jiu jitsu, taekwondo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, kung fu, capoeira, kendo, muai thai, and tai chi. Each of these martial arts has its specific strengths, so you’ll need to do a bit of research to decide which class suits you best. Consult a professional martial arts trainer and your doctor to make the right decision.
  • Bark can put you in touch with suppliers offering a variety of mixed martial arts classes and specialized self-defense courses. You can try these groups if you don’t want to focus on a single type of martial arts. Mixed classes are extremely versatile, so you’ll need to talk to each trainer individually to find out their approach.
  • Martial arts classes are great, but you can enhance your physical training by complementing them with other types of exercise. Bark can help you find swimming and yoga classes as well as personal trainers who can develop a personalized training and nutrition program that will allow you to achieve your fitness goals.

Al Qawi Self Defence

We have been running a very successful martial arts club since 2007. Our sessions are in Manor Park E12 , Dagenham RM8 and Limehouse E14. I also have a live online session for those who can't get to me for whatever reasons. Our sessions are kids only, adult female and male only.. Our female only sessions bring a comfortable environment for those who are looking for a ladies only sessions. Our members have benefited from increased fitness, confidence and much more. We are the only martial arts club in the UK to have a dedicated SEN support worker to help and assist our members. This has allowed our SEN members to enjoy the benefits of Martial Arts with us. With MMA classes, Taekwondo, Karate, Muay Thai and Submission wrestling, you will find something to get you going . With kids, women and men only sessions, we pride ourself in teaching authentic, proven techniques that can be used in self defence. We also offer a graded syulubus for those wanting to have recognition with belts. Our grading syulubus consists of learning basic strikes, blocks and kicks and footwork. This is followed by more advance techniques as well as the introduction to wrestling techniques and submissions. As the student progresses through the grading syulubus, the student will learn how to mix the striking and grappling element together. This is an effective way to learn martial arts as the student/member will have good foundation to defend themselves in a more varied situation. We have students also competing in local and national comps. These competitions including Kata (form) , light and full contact sparring, submission wrestling and No-gi BJJ competitions as well as MMA competitions. Some of our students have moved on to compete in international competition and knocking on UFC! Our members are all welcoming and we have a great team ethos. We have a great team mentality to reach our individual and collective goals. There's something to be gained with us, so give me a call or email me and we can discuss your goals and needs. Welcome to Al Qawi Self Defence Club

What do you love most about your job?

I love the positive transformation in people that come through my dojo or online.

People come from all backgrounds and everyone comes for training for different reasons - some have issues with self confidence, some are bullied, some have fitness issues. Some just have too much energy to expend!
Seeing how they transform to a better person and realising their initial goals makes me love what I do.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My Sensei thought I would be a good instructor material (his words)
So I underwent further training and ended up starting my club.

Also the lack of viable options in the local area was another reason to start; with high crime rate, increased anti social behaviour, I give parents and others an option out of these negative life choices.

Why should our clients choose you?

My students and their families are testament to how good the delivery is.

We are 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 rated on Google . We produce some of the most promising fighters in the country and one of them is no professional.

We are the only club to also have a dedicated SEN instructor in the UK.

Our club prides in achievement outside of training, our mentorship is one of the best and we have students who have excelled in areas outside of training.

We work with parents and partners to ensure our students are working well in schools, work etc.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I teach online via the Zoom app.
I teach every Wednesday and Sunday 630-7pm and Saturday 11-1130am

Everyone is welcome to these sessions.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Unfortunately we are in national tier lockdown so no open sessions

However all session are online only and it's great seeing the progress of students, many are completely new and haven't even seen my in real-life, just word of mouth.
