Running and Jogging Lessons

I have had a really good experience with my personal trainer John who has really helped to develop my running ability for football. I have really enjoyed working with him and continue to do so too as his sessions are always extremely effective and he’s very knowledgeable on how to achieve the best performance of someone regardless of their fitness goals. I would recommend him to anyone as he’s a lovely person too. More...

John has been a remarkable PT for me for the past 6 months. The content of his weekly programmes is varied, the right level of challenging, and very much tailored to my needs. He is constantly checking in with updates to my goals rather than relying on our initial conversation. In the sessions I’m achieving a more than I thought possible because of his encouragement, enthusiasm, and detailed explanations! As someone new to strength training I was also initially worried about being able to do it safely but John has given me incredible instructions and heaps of confidence so I feel incredibly safe in his sessions but also now in group classes without him. I also get lots of positive comments on my form from instructors in class, a testament to his relentless hard work. He is also just a gem of a human and a great PT! Strongly recommend! More...

Boxing Coaches

I've had five personal boxing training sessions with John so far, and the experience has been amazing—way beyond what I expected. John is incredibly responsible, encouraging, and professional. His flexible approach works perfectly for someone like me, who doesn't have much boxing experience, and he's always so patient and supportive. It's clear that his knowledge and training philosophy are on another level. Each session is an hour long and carefully planned by John, including stretching, shadow boxing, pad work, and weight/cardio exercises. Over the past few weeks, I've not only gained strength but also grown in confidence. I can’t recommend John enough—honestly, I’m not sure if there’s a better personal trainer in London! More...

Thank you so much Jiarui! I'm so proud and thrilled to see how much confidence you've gained since you started boxing again and the strides you've been making with your fitness and wellbeing, especially in such a short space of time. You've been a joy to have around and it's been a pleasure coaching you every single minute. Long may that continue 🙌🏾

Q&As

I make sure I put the personal in personal training by ensuring the sessions and programmes ars tailored to accomodate for each client. As much as I'd love to have my clients train at the same ability I have to acknowledge that every client is different: whether thats differences in training goals, training background, fitness levels, routine, lifestyle, injury and medical history. Thats where adaptability and flexibility as a coach comes into play when planning and delivering the sessions and maintaining one's motivation levels to workout if not increase their motivation.

This also gives me the opportunity to give them some control and autonomy over their health and fitness journey. There is not one-sizd fits all approach. One training method may work for one person. The same training method may not work for someone else. I make note of client thoughts and comments about the session: how they felt about certain exercises on a programme, what they enjoyed and didnt enjoy, which weight they lifted for exercises enjoy and my own observations. I also not just look out for their training on the gym floor but also their sleep, nutrition, recovery and lifestyle choices. Health and fitness requires attention and awareness for virtually 24/7 so sleep quality, lifestyle and nutrition comes into play. Even though I'm no nutritionist or sleep therapist in my check-ins and consultations I'm constantly giving them guidance to the best of my ability.

So all in all fun, engaging and enjoyable sessions are the cornerstone of what I do, making sure they are tailored to the individual and their needs and abilitiess. Also regular check-ins and debriefs regarding their recent activities, thoughts and feelings about sessions and how the sessions can be made better for them.

I would say hard-work, consistency, commitment, willingness to learn and improve and adaptability. Also the patience and awareness knowing that it is marathon not a sprint so there is no quick fix or shortcut to results no matter what you hear or what is sold to you. Trust the process - tenfold!

What I love most about the job is the relationships and bonds I forge with people I train and coach. I feel the experiences amd memories we have on the gym floor or studio goes beyond the gym and I'd say. We're winning together when we're making progress and seeing those results and we're fighting together when there are struggles and setbacks. To me, personal training is not a job but its an extension of a hobby I am passionate about.

I live, breathe and eat fitness and going to the gym. For as long I could remember I wanted to make a difference to people's lives in a meaningful way and I felt I had a lot to offer in the fitness industry (with a degree of flexibility of course) so here we are: becoming a self-employed/freelance personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach was the way to go forward. I also strive to educate people on health and fitness and the impact it can have not just on their physical health but also their mental, emotional and social wellbeing.

They're not seen as clients or numbers to be ticked off. They're seen and valued as a human being with aspirations and goals. They're going to have a trainer and an individual who cares about them not just in the gym for 45-60 mins but also outside of the gym as other areas of their life mpacts their wellbeing. For me as a coach its important to understand the elements at play in their lives so I can be the very best person for them (we call it relatedness in sport psychology). They're going to havd someone who listens to them with empathy and kindness and someone who is open and transparent with their health and lifestyle goals. In their sessions expect to have either a fun, inclusive, interactive and/or intrinstically rewarding training experience. Its a hollistic relationship and journey they'll be embarking on.

I provide my personal training services in gym-based environments that is most convenient to my clients.

Services

My training and coaching philosophy is dominated by taking a person-centred approach to sessions, with a focus on functional training and ensuring that people are training in a way that will allow them to reap the benefits in their everyday life. I also strive to pur the FUN in functional training and do my utmost to make sure that the 45-60 mins they are experiencing is inclusive, engaging and interactive so that they are leaving empowered, valued and appreciated.
