The "carefully vetted" and "finely selected" builder recommended to me by the Association in fact refused to give me any paperwork at all in relation to the work, expected me to pay his labourers in cash on a weekly basis, tried to rip me off by attempting to charge me the association's fee at 3. 5% (it is 2.5% and payable by the builder not the customer) and then left the work unfinished so I was left with an bathroom in which I couldn't have a shower. Trying to raise these matters with the Association was a waste of time - apparently it was my fault. This builder is still on their books. I went through the Association as I needed someone to put right some work carried out by a rogue builder they purport to try and avoid and now I'm going to have to find a builder to put right work that was to put right work. Very poor service, if that’s what you call it. I would give zero if possible. Don’t be swayed by what they proport to do on the adverts, as I was. In reality they recommended foul mouthed incompetent workman to build a small kitchen extension on my house. The work should have taken 3 months when in fact it was almost two years and twice the cost. Most of the time they were not showing up to carry on the work. In the end they never finished the job and I had to pay others to finish it and fix the damage that was caused to my property. Despite my complaint their final solution was to take action against the builder which would incur even more costs from me. They now ignore my complaint so can only assume that they condone the builders action. Do not touch with a barge pole unless you want to lose an awful lot of money. More...

Not happy at all, more info was given out to tradesmen than needed! E.g we had tradesmen contacting us, they said our address then we believe your away next week so will have to come the week after! No information like that should be passed on to anyone, advertising were on holiday! not happy at all, so cancelled and we'll find our our builder. More...

I've called them for advice about issues I'm having with a builder I contracted independently, but which is registered to them. They said they wouldn't get involved, despite the builder being a member, because it was contracted indirectly. They were somewhat helpful in giving advice, but I would have expected a lot more. When you hire someone, you have extra reassurance because they belong to an association; you don't normally consider that you have to hire them _through_ the association. More...
