I stayed at the Thistle Barbican after a work Christmas party. I had a twin room which was very spacious and even had a massive flat screen tv! Room was clean and quiet. The lighting was excellent, especially by the mirrors which i find is a rarity at most hotels, it doesn’t sound so important but when you are getting ready for a formal do it is crucial! Check in was very quick and the staff friendly, you could see that they got on well with each other too! If you’re ever worried about staying in central London, look no further than the Thistle; I was in the second building which was only accessible with a keycard, which made me feel very safe as I stayed on my own. The breakfast selection is very wide and the hotel is less than 5mins from the bus stop and you can stroll through a small park on your way. Very close by is a church and through it was Sunday, we didn’t hear the bells toll until we were going out and about. The front desk was really nice and the room/bathroom was cozy/small. Great hotel, immediately welcoming and quick check in. The room perfectly clean and well heated with towels available. The bed is comfortable and the soft pillow helps you rest very well. Cela fait plusieurs fois que nous séjournons à cet hôtel. Il est à 35mn à pied d'Oxford Street. Pour aller en hyper centre de Londres prendre le bus 55 direct, depuis l'arrêt rue Saint John's street. Cet hôtel a une piscine, hamman,sauna et jacuzzi. L'hiver qu'en la nuit tombe rapidement nous apprécions l'espace spa. J'aime leur petit déjeuner de qualité et très varié. Booked this hotel due to its convenient location to Moorfields Hospital - easy to find - all staff extremely pleasant and very helpful - we had a great meal in the restaurant and the choice for the breakfast buffet was excellent - would definitely return.

I came to this hotel for a family gathering, and also spent the night. Really happy with our stay here, it was my husband’s 60th birthday and on arrival the guy on reception wished him a happy birthday and said there was a bottle of Prosecco for us in the room. We’d booked room only and because it was my husband’s 60th they gave us free breakfasts for our stay!! The room was very clean and had a big TV, fridge and a choice of a basic hairdryer or a professional one. The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe space. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the staff were all very good. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night, great value at £17.50 for 2 courses and the service was excellent far better than in the Aqua Shard! The food was excellent highly recommend the steak. We didn’t use the pool but we will on our next visit. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the underground so a good location and there were bars near the underground and a few eating places too. I booked a single room as I was just overnighting but myself and needed a place to stay. Room was clean, well kept. On the the small side, but that’s expected of a single room. Didn’t get a chance to use the leisure facilities but the breakfast was decent. I do read reviews and noted several reviews commenting on the annex to this hotel in a very negative way, the rooms were lacking some basics and specifically they were noisy with poor outside isolation. When checking in I requested a room in the main hotel building which would be the normal thing. I was then told that the only room available was in the annex. My booking was made several weeks in advance. After a lengthy discussion involving several people and also I think a manager hiding in the back they managed to "find" a room in the main hotel building on the second floor adjacent to conference areas. The room was bordering a utility area making it perfectly quiet at night as there were no people. The overall quality of the room was very good with a large flat screen TV, a coffee and tea making set , a good equipped bathroom and the size for a single room, being London, very good. The pool and the gym looked fine but I didn't try it. An extensive breakfast at 12,5 pounds is served next to the reception area. Across the road you can get an English breakfast at half that price. The location of the hotel is a little bit off bounds, not an interesting area, but you can reach the Tube on Old Street after a 10-12 min walk. There are also several bus lines close to the hotel.
