About Mantel Farm
Mantel Farm is a family run 'Garden Farming' shop in the heart of the East Sussex Countryside Selling Poultry, Beekeeping Equipment, Animal Housing & Runs, Animal Supplies, Feed and Equipment.
We also offer Animal Boarding Services and Smallholding Training Courses. Our aim is to support our family in as self sufficient and sustainable way as possible, we run a small scale family business, only selling products we have used ourselves and animals we have experience in keeping.
We now have many breeds of poultry, along with beehives and small families of ducks, rabbits, pigs, geese and goats.
We specialise in Poultry; selling everything you need to keep chickens yourselves.
We welcome you to come and have a look at the animals, browse our shop or ask our advice.
We are happy to talk to you and encourage you to try this special way of life, either by enjoying the pleasures of keeping livestock, growing your own food or by simply buying local produce.
We hope we can show you that you don't need a farm to keep animals, any reasonable sized garden can be home to a few hens for really fresh eggs, a hive of bees for honey and only a small pig paddock is needed for your own tasty pork.

Mantel Farm Services
Chicken Boarding "Chickens come to stay while you go away!"Est. 2007 Why not book your Chickens in for a holiday of their own? and go away relaxed, safe in the knowledge that they are being well cared for, totally secure inside our barn, in one of our purpose built holiday pens. We also care for Quail, Rabbits and Ducks Book online now, or click here to download the paper-based booking form. (You will need PDF reader software, such as Adobe Acrobat, installed to view and print it) About our service: "CHICKEN TRIPPERS" Poultry Boarding Since 2007 Mantel Farm's chicken boarding service was first established in 2007, we consider ourselves to have been the first to offer this service in the UK. Bringing your birds to board with us means leaving your well loved family pets, or smallholding flock in the capable hands of those who know about poultry. We have a dedicated area in our barn for Chicken Trippers, with various sized pens to suit your requirements. Your chickens will be housed together in their own adequately sized pen, which is totally secure from predators, being located within the walls of our main poultry barn. Being indoors, our pens are built on a solid concrete floor therefore enabling cleaning and disinfecting much more thorough than if they were kept on grass. After cleaning, each pen is given a new floor of soft wood shavings providing a deep litter for your hens to enjoy. Each pen contains its own feeder, drinker, grit hopper, nesting boxes and a roosting rail as standard. Optional extras are available on request and we can cater for specific treat or food requirements but extra cost may be involved. Any eggs laid by your hens will be collected daily for you to take home when you collect your birds. Layers pellets or mash will be provided along with a treat feed of corn in the afternoon. (unless you request otherwise) If you would like to bring along extra treats for your birds, or if they require any special care, please complete the relevant section on our booking form.
Beekeeping Training Courses
We will always encourage others to be as self sufficient and sustainable as possible, and this includes keeping livestock where possible. Our Beekeeping courses and Chicken Keeping courses, among others, are here to help. However when keeping livestock you become responsible for their welfare and it is essential that you are confident to give them the care and attention they deserve. We do not consider ourselves to be experts in all animal care but we are happy to talk to you and share our experiences, giving advice where possible. Please see below for details of training held by ourselves and other recommended training providers. We also attend several shows and fayres throughout the year. Our diary will be updated throughout the year with our upcoming events.
