MLW Counselling

Welcome to my counselling practice, where compassion, understanding, and personalised care are at the forefront of everything I do. I provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings. I am a pluralistic counsellor and therapist. This means that I have many different methods and approaches to use with clients in the room or online. This is because different people are helped by different processes and activities at different times, I do not believe in a one size fits all. With this approach we can work together in a relaxing and accepting environment to explore your concerns and find a way for you to move forward. My goal as a therapist is to guide my clients to reframe their thinking, to boost confidence and self-esteem and enable them to take back control of their well-being. Through this, clients can gain a new way to tackle problems and use new skills for anything the future brings.

What do you love most about your job?

The thing I love most about my job is helping people to become unstuck and look at their situation in a new light. I can be a safe place for people to explore areas of their life that they don't know how to talk about to friends and family and provide comfort that they are not alone and that I'm here to listen.

What inspired you to start your own business?

The reason I became a therapist was due to working with young people, 16-19 year olds, as a teacher. Over the years I discovered that I wanted to help young people on a more personal level, which teaching did not provide. I wanted the opportunity to be able to guide young people during a time that can be confusing, isolating and they are uncertain of their present self and future aims. To further my learning I also volunteered as a counsellor with a local cancer charity and worked with patients, carers and families, giving me experience working with people through ill health and troubling times around cancer.
Once I qualified I realised that I could do this with so more people than just students in my classroom, so I started my own practice and have loved it ever since.

Why should our clients choose you?

I work with many problems that people may experience, these include things such as anxiety, stress, relationship problems (not couples), illness and diagnosis, grief and loss, lack of direction, panic, phobias and more. (A more extensive list can be found on my website www.MLWCounselling.co.uk)

I do this by having a free initial consultation with you, to find out more about you, and what might work best. This is a natural process that can change as the sessions progress, as you grow, the sessions and methods will grow with you.
I provide an environment that is open, honest and empathetic and welcomes clients from all backgrounds.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can provide services online, so you can do this from the comfort of your own home or if you wish to do face to face, I have a counselling room ready to meet clients in person.
