Lucinda Scott

Hi, I’m Lucinda and I am an experienced and highly professional music teacher based in Motspur Park! WHAT ARE MY QUALIFICATIONS? I have a Masters degree from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, a 1st class BMus with honours from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and a 2:1 BMus with honours from the University of Manchester. I started violin and piano lessons at the age of 5, completed grade 8 ABRSM violin with distinction at the age of 13 and a few years later grade 8 ABRSM piano. Throughout my youth I played violin with the Liverpool Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and in my last years there I was 1st violin section leader. WHAT DO I TEACH? I teach singing, piano, violin and music theory and have a wealth of experience with teaching having started private lessons alongside my studies at the age of 18. WHAT CAREER EXPERIENCE HAVE I HAD? As a trained opera/classical/musical theatre singer I have sung for many highly renowned theatre and opera companies in the UK and abroad including Opera Holland Park, Longborough Opera Festival, Opera de Baugé, Thursford Christmas Spectacular and Shone Productions. I have been teaching for 16 years and have a 100% pass rate with ABRSM exams. I have also taught singing for one term’s maternity cover at Tonbridge Granmar School. WHAT IS MY APPROACH TO TEACHING? My approach to lessons is simple but structured and I firmly believe that every child’s learning style is different, in which case I pride myself as a teacher who can tailor the lesson to suit the specific needs of the individual. I love to work towards grades (ABRSM or TRINITY) with my students as I think having goals to work towards gives a great sense of purpose and achievement when learning an instrument, but equally I am also happy to centre lessons around pure enjoyment without exams if this is the structure the student would rather follow. I am a great believer that technique and music theory is a very important part of learning an instrument whether you are working towards exams or not, so I make sure these are also integral parts of the lessons. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask and I look forward to helping you or your child aboard your musical journey with enthusiasm and joy that can hopefully last a lifetime!

What do you love most about your job?

Inspiring others to venture into the wonderful world of music. It is so rewarding when I see pupils making progress, no matter how big or small that progress may be. When I see my students really enjoying what they are playing or singing I feel like I have really succeeded in doing my job then! Learning music has to be enjoyable; for me music is all about spreading joy and it accompanies us brilliantly through the ups and downs of life. I certainly don’t know where I would be without music in my life!

Why should our clients choose you?

I am an extremely proficient musician having started learning music at the age of five. I trained at one of the world’s top conservatoires, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and I am extremely passionate about every child and adult having the opportunity in life to learn music. I am punctual, dedicated, hard-working and patient with all of my pupils.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I provide in person and online lessons. I have a fast WiFi connection at home and an iPad Pro to ensure good visual and audio.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
