What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

The secret of taking a great photograph of people is spending time with them before pulling out a camera. Find out what they most hate about being photographed. Is there a feature that is hated? Is there a preferred side? Have they a favourite photographic look perhaps? As people talk, they relax, as they relax, you get to see more the "real person". Only when I have a good idea as to what they want and that I see them a little better as people, do I start with my camera.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

What do you want to achieve from this project?
Do you have a measurable goal to show that you have achieved it?
When do you need the completed photographs by?
What style of imagery are you looking for?
How long can the person/subjects be with me for?

What do you love most about your job?

I love the pleasure that presenting a great photograph/s bring to people. I also like being my own boss.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I realised that whilst I love working for Cancer Research UK, that it didn't fill the artistic need that I also have. I'd been a photographer for years and been brought up in a photographic, writing and artistic family surrounding. The actual kick was the unexpected, sudden death of my Mum. Not only a hugely sad loss, but it made me evaluate that time is precious and that I should be using it well.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a really good photographer. However, there are a lot of those! I am me. Lively, funny, patient, kindly, willing and can listen really well. I will make every effort to create not just what you say that you want, but in addition, ideas that I think would work for you too.
