My name is HELEN HARROLD; I am a qualified maths teacher with over 20 years of experience. I teach children from year 4 to GCSE and adults. I have a proven track record of helping students achieve and exceed their potential at GCSE and have helped many students to become confident mathematicians. Whilst preparing students for exams- SATs and GCSEs I consolidate what they are doing in school, explain problem areas, work through past papers, and build maths confidence. For others not preparing for exams, there is often a need for help to go back to the basics and to then build confidence. In order to make progress in maths, the student has to feel comfortable. I ensure this is the case! So we may work on the basics and then support what they are doing elsewhere ensuring that they understand everything. I genuinely love my job and enjoy working with pupils! For homeschooled children, I am happy to take the lead with the online lesson and provide a curriculum that mum can work at during the week or I will work alongside mum in the direction she wants to go in. Each and every one of my students will receive the highest possible standard of teaching every time. I regularly feedback to parents about what we have been studying and how their child is doing.
I think what I love most is that lightbulb moment when a child who has been struggling with a concept or exam question suddenly gets it. They are so happy, and so am I!
I thought I could do a good job of sharing my enjoyment of maths with others. I also think teaching is important and worthwhile.
