Guitar Lessons Basingstoke

Hampshire

My name's Sean Campbell and I provide guitar lessons to the good people of Basingstoke and north Hampshire. I teach all ages and levels of proficiency at my clean and tidy home studio in Brighton Hill, Basingstoke, though I do travel to students on occasion for an additional charge of £3. I teach seven days a week from 10:00 till 18:00 (Sundays are reserved for students who need to reschedule however). I charge £30 per hour, £23.50 for 45 minutes and £17 for a half hour lesson. Discounts are available for block payments in advance and for anyone who wishes to share a lesson with a friend. I have a veritable selection of guitar equipment and teaching facilities for the benefit of my students, including a spare guitar for them to borrow if they do not yet own one. I also have a very decent sofa for any parents who wish to sit in on their child's lesson, which they're most welcome to do of course! I will even provide tea for aforementioned parents. There is of course more to be said, but if you're curiosity is not yet sated, please do pay my website a visit for more information, or just get in touch, I do quite well at maintaining my 24-hour-maximum response time. Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon, Sean Campbell

What do you love most about your job?

I love being strategic in plotting out how to get my students to achieve their goals.

I love being thorough in my tuition and clear in my communication because I want the student to really understand each concept fully and properly.

But most of all I really just love music, music is fun, and that means my job is therefore fun.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I finished studying music in 2007, and then I pretty much traveled all over the place - Europe, USA, Australia; working in music performance and tuition - teaching at festivals, music academies, summer camps, running workshops, courses, summer schools, private tuition, school tuition, etc.

When I decided to settle down, I realised that I loved what I was doing so much, I had to make it work back home, which is what I did. So all the course materials I've written over those years, all that experience working with musicians the world over, and teaching people from all walks of life, all that is now encapsulated in my business - Guitar Lessons Basingstoke.

Why should our clients choose you?

Well, I believe it is necessary for a guitar teacher to be constantly mindful of what the student actually want to achieve. Everything I do in the lessons is intended with the achievement of their objectives in mind.

Now that may sound obvious, but it's actually quite rare. You see it's much easier just to keep the student happy for the short-term by teaching any pleasing bits and pieces that spring to mind five minutes before each lesson, which fools them into thinking they know more than they do; or to simply teach every student from one book, regardless of their individual aspirations. This is not in the student's long-term interest, and sadly, it is why most guitar students end up feeling overwhelmed, purposeless and disenchanted with it all. To operate in the student's long-term interest however, i.e. to get the results they want takes effort. It takes strategy to determine the necessary path to of learning to take. It takes skills of analysis to be able to deconstruct every difficult task into a handful of simple tasks. It takes consistency and patience to teach a subject with the thoroughness necessary for the student to know it back to front. It takes clarity of communication to truly impart the fullness of one's knowledge on a subject.

This is what I pride myself in, and at the risk of sounding conceited, this is what I am good at, and this is what I believe makes Guitar Lessons Basingstoke different.
