What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is making a real difference in people’s lives every day. Whether it’s helping someone stay independent at home, supporting a family through a difficult time, or seeing a client smile when our therapy pony visits—those moments of connection and care are everything. I also love mentoring others in the care sector and finding new, creative ways to improve how we deliver care. It’s not just a job to me—it’s a purpose.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started my own care business because I knew things could be done better. After working in care for over 30 years, I saw how often the system focused on ticking boxes rather than truly supporting people as individuals. I wanted to create something different—something personal, respectful, and centred around dignity, wellbeing, and real relationships.
Working with dementia researchers at Lancaster University inspired me to design a model of care that focuses on diet, stimulation, and exercise—not just routines and tasks. That’s how Unique Homecare began: with the belief that care can be compassionate, creative, and genuinely life-enhancing—for both clients and carers.

Yes, we can provide some of our services online or remotely, depending on your needs. While most of our care is delivered in person, we offer remote support options to help clients and families stay connected and supported from a distance.
