Bedford Fringe 23rd July 2024. The Great Baldini certainly lived up to his name - both bald and 100% great ! How long have you been interested in magic?
My grandfather was a music hall magician and passed on his passion to me when I was a child
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
In discussion with the client I can craft a tremendous entertainment for intimate dinner parties, to raucous children's entertainment to large corporate gatherings. Each requires it's own bespoke approach. I find a layered approach works very well:
- Pre-event gathering - walk around for up to an hour
- During the event - dinner or party – at table – circa 5-10 minutes at each table
- After the event – a c30 minute stage show – making the birthday person/host/most senior manager look like a genius
- Post dinner casino card magic in the bar – groups of eight to ten at a time at my black-jack table
This seems to cover all bases and is upto three – four hours of very high quality, memorable entertainment.

The audiences I perform for. I want to make them laugh, gasp and remember your event.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Following a childhood dream I left a successful corporate career to perform magic.

My persona and performance is large, colourful and memorable. I work hard to ensure that the audience feels valued, respected and avoid the hackneyed old trope of cheap laughs from belittling volunteers.

Yes - I provide a one hour, on-line, interactive morale booster for companies and family/friends groups: "How to entertain yourself and others with a pack of cards. Participants all have a pack of playing cards and the workshop goes through the history, teaches some tricks, and bewilders with others.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
1) I am Quadruple Vaccinated
2) I take a LFT before every performance
3) I have invested in UV lighting sanitising equipment so that all my props are germ/virus free
4) I provide gel, masks and gloves for anyone who participates in the magic
MINGLING MAGIC (walk around close-up magic performed as guests are gathering, standing, mingling and enjoying drinks)
I offer three performance options:
MINGLING - ‘RUSH HOUR’
60 minutes of mingling comedy magic. Includes close-up magic effects for all guests. It is performed for individuals and small groups. It is suitable for groups of up to 50 people.
MINGLING - ‘HAPPY HOUR’
120 minutes of magical, colourful and hilarious mingling magic. It presents a blend of close-up magic and larger effects for all guests. Illusions can be tailored to the client and the event. Magical mementos are left with guests and on the fabric of the venue. It is suitable for groups of up to 100 people.
MINGLING - ‘WITCHING HOUR'
This is a full-evening (four hours) of magical, colourful and hilarious mingling magic. It builds ‘Happy Hour’ Mingling into a magical extravaganza, starting when your guests arrive and not finishing until they leave. The Great Baldini acts as a magical toastmaster for the event introducing speeches and toasts. As the evening draws on the 'Witching Hour' adds ‘Close-up Casino’ – card, dice and gambling tricks performed at a black jack table.
SHOWTIME MAGIC (stage/cabaret magic that plays well for larger crowds).
I offer three performance options:
SHOWTIME - 'A BLAST OF MAGIC'
This is a thirty-minute blast of stage magic. It is high energy, comedy stage magic consisting of larger scale illusions. Suitable for house parties or concert parties...and audiences of ten to 150 people.
SHOWTIME - 'THE MAGIC SHOW'
This is the Great Baldini’s full sixty-minute stage/cabaret show. It is magical, colourful and very funny, consisting of larger scale illusions suitable for house parties or concert parties. The show is highly interactive involving members of the audience with illusions tailored to the client and the event. It is suitable for groups of ten to 150 people.
SHOWTIME - 'THE VEGAS EXTRAVAGANZA'
The real deal! Like a night out in Vegas.
You see THE MAGIC SHOW
Afterwards visit the 'CLOSE-UP CASINO' - close-up gambling tricks (dice, cards, poker chips, roulette).
Guests are entertained at Baldini's Vegas-quality Blackjack table.
