Instruct at your own risk! I appointed South Manchester Care to care for my elderly father who has dementia. As this is a fairly new company I put up with all their incompetencies with the view I will support a new business and they will learn and take on board feedback.
Instead they took my money and continued to make the same mistakes.
The registered manager left due to fears of the company being reported to the CQC and it effecting their progression in their nursing career. I received a warning from her advising me that it is the most corrupt uncaring place they have ever worked, they are ill mannered, greedy people with not a caring bone in their body and advising me to look elsewhere for the care needs of my father. Also the fact they don’t have a single policy in place and its illegal how they operate.
They have only added stress to my life instead of providing the respite that I required. I have an endless list of the ways they didn’t meet the basic criteria of a care company. The carers bar one are all inexperienced and don’t stay the allotted time. Majority of them are trained by the director of the company who is a young boy who sees this care company as a business instead of providing care. As this company struggles with staff levels, on numerous occasions the director has came to calls. He never stays the full allotted time and as a self funded client I have stressed that my dad requires companionship. He paces up and down my fathers living room which puts my father on edge and makes him feel intimidated. It is my fathers home/safe place and to have a stranger pace up and down is horrible. I have advised him of this matter to which his reply was “I don’t like to get close to the service providers.” Should he be coming to a service provider as a carer if he has this view?!
As I have cameras in the property I have never saw him sit on the sofa and actually engage in a conversation with my father. On occasions my father will begin a conversation and he will walk away as he is speaking. In the middle of my father having his breakfast whilst still having a mouth full of food he has put his medication in his hand for him to take just so he is able to leave half an hour early. This isn’t even the way you would treat an animal never mind a human who you have a duty of care to. My fathers patio door was left unlocked and the director of the company had taken the key with him. I chased him to bring the key back and lock the door which he did after a week!
I was told my father is refusing to shower and can I have a word with him. All my research into dementia has shown me this is a characteristic of people with dementia. I advised that can they help encourage him to have one when they are there and mid conversation the director talks over me and starts to walk away.
There have been times when no one has shown up to a call and I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t have the cameras in the house. My father requires his medication to be given so this is horrendous that no one has shown up and no communication to this effect.
They have one good carer which they use for the initial few weeks to procure clients and then it seems they send anybody. The contract I received was a cleaning contract which shows the lack of thought into the care agency aspect of the business.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We provide our Care Team with Full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Gloves, Aprons, Masks, Foot Covers, Hand Gel, LFD Tests, and we expect our Staff to test every day that they are in work, to keep our clients, and staff as safe as possible.
Companionship
We offer companionship visits from 60 minutes to 8 hours, where our carer's will spend the time with you, watching TV, playing board games, reading, talking, listening to music, anything you need to provide comfort and company.
Personal Care
We provide Personal Care to those who need a little help. We can assist with washing, dressing, bathing, showering, hair washing, oral hygiene, continence management, toileting, catheter/stoma care, skin care, laundry, bed changing.
Meal Preperatrion
We provide Meal Preparation to those who need a little assistance. We can prepare and cook your meals (Breakfast, lunch, Dinner, Supper) to your specific requests, ensuring a meal is given when required, and alongside your personal choices.
Domestic Duties
We provide Domestic Duties, so that you dont need to do it. We can complete any light household duties you request, such as, hoovering, polishing, washing and drying pots, mopping, sweeping, tidying up, and any other ad hoc tasks you require.
Shopping
We can either take you shopping, so that you can chose your own shopping items, or we can do the shopping for you. You provide the list, and we go and collect!
Medication Administration
Weather you sometimes forget to take your medication, or you have a lot and are worried you may do it wrong, we can Administer any medication for you, as part of our job to keep you safe. We have our own Systems in Place to ensure the safety of your Medication Administration.
Respite Care
Is your regular carer or family member going away? We can fill in for them, to help you stay safe at home. We can assist with anything from 1-week periods to and ongoing basis.
