Here are some things that are checked during a fire door inspection:
Automatic closure: The door should close automatically and latch securely when released halfway.
Smoke seals: Smoke seals should be present and intact, and not painted over.
Gaps: Gaps between the door and frame should be less than 4 mm at the top and sides, and less than 8 mm at the bottom.
Hinges: The door should have three securely fitted hinges.
Certification: The door should have a label or plug on the top or side that shows it is fire-rated.
Damage: The door and door closer should not have any visible damage.
Signage: The door should have a sign on both sides that says "fire door keeps shut".
