Raj curates and provides the food for the retreats I run regularly. The food is phenomenal, the feedback from anyone who attends is always that they were blown away by the food, so tasty and nutritious. We recently had the pleasure of having Scratch Cook Social cater our anniversary party, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Raj and his wonderful team brought a level of warmth, creativity, and culinary expertise that elevated the entire evening.

Raj’s flair with Indian cuisine was nothing short of inspirational. He transformed our kitchen into a lively open kitchen, preparing and assembling dishes right in front of our guests. It was more than just catering — it was a performance. Each dish was not only beautifully crafted but came with a story. Raj took the time to explain the ingredients, techniques, and inspiration behind every bite, which added a rich cultural and personal dimension to the meal.

Our guests were blown away by the flavours, the presentation, and the personal touch that Raj and his team delivered. It felt intimate, elegant, and effortlessly orchestrated. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate.

Catering

I chose Scratch Cook as he is a local chef and he personally responded. Raj recommended a dish for my birthday party for 70 guests and organised a taster for me. He arranged everything at a reasonable price and was extremely professional. The food was excellent and all my guests thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful flavours, praising the meal. He prepared, served and cleared up in my kitchen without me having to do anything, I was able to enjoy my party.
I would highly recommend Scratch Cook and I am confident Raj would accommodate any type of special event.

I love taking Indian flavours and fusing them together with well know British dishes and in 2022 my Desi (Indian) Shepherds pie won the prize for Best Home Cook of the Year at the Leamington Food Festivals. This has now become one of my signature and best known dishes, however there are many more!!!

It's all about understanding the clients needs first. For example, finding out the purpose of the event, the theme, the types of cuisine the client is not so keen on, how adventurous the client would like to go with the dishes and overall expectations of what the expected outcomes should be.

The greatest part of my job is seeing my clients and their guests enjoying the experience of Scratch Cook Social while they create deeper bonds and connections around the food.
Everyday I get to create new dishes and no event or client is ever the same so having this amount of variety in what I do, is something I am really grateful for.

I enjoyed an incredible corporate career in a global tech company for 22 years, living and working in different parts of the world. During that time, I was fortunate enough to spend time with a wide array of people from different cultures and the best times I had with my colleagues and clients, always centred around enjoy the different cuisines from around the world.

Having said that, my love for food is really a childhood passion, learning from my mothers own style of cooking traditional Gujarati dishes at home - she is certainly my biggest inspiration.

So it was a combination of my passion for food, bringing people together around food and my own joy for cooking and creating unique food experiences which led me to pivot in my career and set-up Scratch Cook Social in January 2024.

My focus is all about creating outstanding experiences for clients. This means, listening to the client needs, creating trust that I will deliver according to the client expectations and leaving my client and their guests with a new appreciation for traditional Indian flavours.

My services are delivered in person only. Initial consults about client needs can be carried our remotely.

Upscale Indian fine dining for your special occasion.

Whether it be 7 courses at home with a carefully curated menu for an exclusive private dining experience, or maybe you're looking to for something different for your wedding breakfast.

This service is perfect for sit-down table service events for up to 60 guests.

2 to 7 courses menus with optional wine pairings.

Popular with clients looking for upscale dining in a more relaxed and social environment for up to 50 guests.

While guests mingle, chat and socialise, each course is finished and presented by Chef Raj in palm-size dishes from a central table / pass (e.g. a Kitchen Island or a table supplied by Scratch Cook Social).

More than Canapes, the idea is to allow guest to walk, talk and eat without compromise on the food experience.

This experience generally takes place at the clients home or preferred location.

Nourish bowls which are ideal for those events that have a tight schedule for lunch, suited groups from 20 to 150.

Each guest receives their complete meal in one biodegradable bowl, filled with Steamed Rice, Chicken or Chickpea Curry, Fresh Salad, Minted Yogurt Sauce and Toasted Poppadom.

Served fresh on site, the Scratch Cook Social team will prepare each bowl from a buffet for each guest.

Optional soft drinks can also be added, including Mango Lassi!

Open fire cooking of skewered Lamb, Chicken and Paneer served with Saffron infused rice, charred sweetcorn with chilli-lime dressing, pickled red cabbage salad and minted yogurt sauce.

On the BBQ, the skewers have the following flavour profiles

Lamb Mishkaki: A traditional East African Indian way of marinating lamb with robust spices to keep the meat tender and tasty throughout the cooking process. I use the highest quality West Country Lamb, sourced through Aubrey Allen butchers

Garlic - Ginger Chicken: A traditional blend of Indian flavours balanced with yogurt in the marination process resulting in a beautifully moist pieces of chicken breast with charred edges. I use Devonshire White free range chicken, also sourced through Aubrey Allen Butchers

Tandoori Masala Paneer: using my own blend of Tandoori Masala, the paneer pieces are elevated to yield robust flavours.

The above menu is served either from my mobile unit - converted horse trailer, if space permits. Alternatively, I would set-up my BBQ's with a serving table and gazebo, depending on the weather.

For group sizes of 30-300 at the clients preferred location.

The perfect start to your marriage with the perfect meal for the occasion.

Nothing should be standard about your special day so chef Raj will curate a menu based on your needs.

It begins with a telephone consultation, followed by a menu proposal and then before you decide, you'll be invited to Chef Raj's kitchen for a tasting session to make sure each dish meets your expectations.

With a mixture of Indian and Mediterranean inspired items, each dish is created for the experience of eating, with vibrant colours, aromatic scents, layers of texture and incredible flavours.

Menu's can be curated to offer 6 to 8 different items, with a range of cold and warm dishes.

Additionally, we offer a live station where guests can be served a freshly prepared speciality of Chef Raj, his 'Puri Mouth Bombs'.

Served in either platters or individual portion size pots, the canapes are the perfect accompaniment to any gathering, casual, formal or otherwise.
