1:1 Sessions - Online
Who am I?
My name is Andrew Rhodes, born 1995 from North Yorkshire. I live in Scotland with my wife, who I have been with for 10 years, and have an extensive 7 years background in the care sector working with children and families through charity organisations. In my career I have achieved much and currently hold the post Children Services Manager and Team Manager. I hold BSc (Hons) in Psychology, PG Certificate in Counselling, and PG Diploma in Counselling. I have been establishing hours as a counsellor since 2020 in a wide variety of settings and client demographics. My combined experiences make me most appropriate for children, adolescence, and family work. However, I hold many other experiences making me very adaptable. As a counsellor I would express myself as being very warm, none-judgmental, and willing to be authentic. What motivates me and all the work I have done is simply because I want to help others be the best they can. I have moved into counselling because I believe this is where my skill set is most suited in my mission to be there for other to thrive.
What are 1:1 sessions?
This is my primary service I provide however I would consider any requests from clients. 1:1 sessions are 50 minutes long either on Teams or Zoom, depending on which is most easy for you. I work with a minimum fee off £40 and cap payments at £60, it is your choice and decision on what rate you feel is appropriate.
Where do we start?
For our first session, I would regard this as an assessment session and would expect clients to pay £40, no more. Within this session we would explore the possibility of working with each other. Of course, you’ll have your questions, and I will ask some of my own in a semi-structured fashion. At the end of the session, I will share my views if I would be most appropriate and ask for your views also. We will either agree to continue or I would offer my support in directing you to the most appropriate professional. I do this to ensure people are within my capacity as a practitioner and to ensure individuals get the right support.
How do session work?
I am trained in both Psychotherapy and Person-centred approaches, the later being my primary foundation. I offer relation base counselling sessions with a clear person-cantered modality. What this means is through sessions we will develop our connection so I can understand the world you live in. This approach means I will be none-judgmental, empathetic, and will enable sessions to take your direction. A relational approach also means I will not be passive; I will be authentic with you and share what I am experiencing towards your turmoil. Sessions will be on time, unless prior notice was given, and end at the scheduled time. These will primarily be talking base sessions in which I look to yourself to take the direction in topic. This nondirectional approach is important as often clients take themselves where they need to go, the focus you start with may not be what you get most out of sessions. It is this openness that means sessions can look very different for each client, which is something I try to embrace. From my experience, clients have highlighted my warm and comforting nature while I have also witnessed clients be very challenged during sessions. I will try embodying the role that is best to enable your own self-discovery.
Any T&C’s?
Yes, when booking sessions, I would naturally advocate for holding a review session on every 5th session. This is simply a small amount of time within the session to discuss the ground covered and the work going forward, it is also an opportunity to either commit to more sessions or end/pause sessions. Additionally, my cancellation policy is: Please give as much notice as possible for any sessions your unable to attend. More than 24 hours I would not look to charge, less than 24 hours, or if you do not attend then I would look to charge. Should there be 3 sessions missed in any span of 5 scheduled sessions then I would look to end sessions.
Can I ask more questions before starting?
Of course, I am very open for discussion and happy to answer enquiries, no charge or commitments. It is better to ask than keeping it in. I look forward to hearing from you.
