Q&As

Meeting people and helping them, either with their academic journey or their counselling experience. I like to feel that I have made a difference to their lives, in a god way. It is good to witness a change in behaviour and improved relationships, or improved grades and good exam results.

In the 1990s my son spent some time being home schooled. I took on students for private tuition that I could see at home, or in the evenings. I went back to full time work, but resumed the tuition after I retired from full time employment.

I trained as a counsellor while still teaching full time, as an additional skill or service winch I could offer. I trained in the Person Centered Tradition, but I also have an interest in Cognitive Behavioral approaches.

I like being independent, doing as much or as little work as I wish, and I enjoy the successes which follow my intervention. Being Free lance also means that am not bound by the procedures and prejudices of an organisation. I can do things my way so long as I abide by the Codes of Practice and ethical values of the professions.

Basically, because I am good at what I do. I flexible and accommodating, reliable and effective.

I prefer not to work online because I believe it is second best and I have always resisted it. Yes, my services could be delivered on line, but I don't deliver second best.

Considerations of a threat from Covid-19 do not inform or affect my practice.

I have worked with students who are home schooled, and those who are at school but who need some extra support in some areas of their work. I help students prepare for examinations and tests. Where possible in work closely with parents and teachers to make sre that there is continuity between my work and that of the school. My job is to give the pupil something extra to add to the knowledge he or she is gaining at school, or to provide remedial work for areas of learning where a student might be struggling

I am a qualified counsellor and I offer counselling for all areas of concern in a safe, confidential, non judgmental environment.' I work with all ages dealing with a range of issues including bereavement, self esteem, relationships, anxiety and anger management. Counselling sessions can take place at the client's home or at my address.

Taking the first step to find the right person to talk to can take courage. Thank you for looking at my profile. I offer a warm, empathic, non-judgmental and confidential space to explore any difficulties you are facing. Each client is unique and will work with me in a different way that best suits them. Counselling can be a chance to reflect on our past, to process our thoughts and feelings in the here and now, and ultimately to make choices that allow us to move forward into a future that is meaningful to us.
