Nigel’s 1 2 1 design service is a really immediate way to have a garden design and to have input into the finished result. Nigel spent a day with us, finding out what we wanted from the garden, measuring it up, discussing ideas and then capturing it all on paper as a finished design. We meet Nigel in 2018 when we asked him to help us to design our garden following refurbishment of our home. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to completely relandscape the garden immediately but we wanted a plan to work towards as we developed different sections of the garden over the next 1-5 years. Following a phone call and exchange of photographs we agree that the 1-2-1 service would be our best option. Before we met for our 1-2-1 Nigel recommended someone to undertake a survey. Once armed with the survey Nigel spent the day with us walking through the garden and listening to us to understand what we wanted from and for our garden. He listened well and produce lots of wonderful but achievable ideas. He then spent time drawing up the design before we agreed the final design. The whole experience was fantastic and perfect for our needs . Nigel produced beautiful plan (that we could frame and display!!) and now 15 month on we have developed many areas which look amazing and we still have other areas to develop some of which will need to wait until my now teenage children have flown the best. Nigel has just completed a design for the whole of our back garden, including landscaping and planting. He will also be overseeing the project during the construction phase.
Working with Nigel has been a real pleasure and we are very pleased with the design that has emerged. I use the phrase "working with" because that is how he operates - he brings you into the design process in a very direct way (quite different to our experience with another designer). And I use the word "pleasure" because his approach has been fun and interesting.
Nigel arrived on a Sunday morning with drawing board and tools in hand, set himself up on our dining table and then began to talk to us about what we wanted and what might be possible. He listened and then prompted us to think about different issues in a thoughtful and considered way. More listening and suggestions and going back and forth from the garden to the board, after which he prepared the detailed plan, finishing by late afternoon. It was all very efficient! Two days later we had our hard copies.
Working with Nigel has been stress-free and fun and we feel that we are in the hands of an expert in whom we have complete confidence.
